Most hated attachment. The one I need and don't have, yet!

Sounds like this turned into “difficulty of hitching to an implement” instead of bad implements. Like the ones that are just not worth the money even after they are attached.

I worked on both my uncles' farms and we never had any problems connecting to their post hole diggers, because of the way they stored them. After getting done using the post hole digger we would go to where the attachments were stored and sink the post hole digger into the ground about half way up the auger. Pull the drive shaft, unhook the three points and drive off. Next time we needed it back up the tractor over the three points and lower the arms. Since the auger was ridged in the ground, the weight of the attachment points are being supported and as long as the PTO has not been attached we had the gearbox actually allow side to side movement to align them. Connect the three point and attach the PTO. Pull the auger up, shake it, move the loose dirt back into the hole and we were done.

You gave a tip some time ago that helped me out more than anything about attaching a rear PTO shaft. Shift the PTO lever away from the rear PTO slot and your spline spins freely. AMAZINGLY simple and effective.🚜

Strap your post hole digger to a post makes super easy to store and mount

💥 As time goes on I’m getting more and more tired of dealing with my mower deck. I think it’s time to get a dedicated zero turn.
*Keep on tractoring!*

I had to make my landscape rake and box blade quick hitch compatible. I used extended draw pins and welded home built brackets for the top hook that are the same height on both attachments and my tiller which was already quick hitch compatible. This way I don't have to raise and lower the top hook. It's made this old man's life much easier.😊

It always amazes me when people struggle attaching a pto. Slow down, understand how it works and it is about as easy as plugging into an electrical outlet. Adding complexity will never make it easier.

Folks who hate their PTO hook up should invest in a simple bottle brush, mineral spirits and a rag to clean the splines to remove any grease clumps that form over winter, then re-grease it... Ironic that one of the original tractor "quick attach" items ISO 500 standard PTO connector is now seen as such a problem.

After removing and reinstalling a loader & removing the backhoe on my Ford 8n (sold it all), my 1025r loader, backhoe, & mower deck are a breath of fresh air - nothing takes more than 10 minutes on or off & it's EASY. That Ford was a wonder of technology in it's time but we've come a LONG way since then.

“Telescopic Draft Links”. Most people who purchase compact tractors will have no clue what I’m talking about. They are available as an option on almost all “reputable” tractor brands but dealers don’t spec them (I assume to keep the price down) and buyers don’t know to ask. It makes hooking up 3point implements so much easier and eliminates the need for a quick-hitch and the compatibility issues associated with them.

I was just about to say I bought a lawn tractor for mowing. When you look at the costs and the fact you keep the hours off your utility tractor it more than pays for itself.

Good Morning Courtney, I'm not sure, but you should send me a hydraulic flail mower to see how much of a pain it is to put on and off my tractor. Something quick hitch compatible that will fit my Massey GC-1720. I can report back. It will be a community service. I am right next door in Ontario.

You can have tractors and attachments but I will recommend a commercial backhoe! And 4wd. 4in1 front bucket and extendable digging boom! Like John Deere, Case, Cat, and New Holland. You can get decent used backhoes for a good deal but get someone to go with you that knows about them.

We hung the post hole digger from the rafters in the barn, relatively easy on/off!

I didn't want to mess with the mower deck. I went with a bigger tractor and separate zero turn. Backhoe can be a pain, but it's nice to have one on the farm!

I missed the original survey, but I can't believe SICKLE BAR MOWER didn't make the list. That thing scares the hell out of me just stored on the yard. Let alone attaching and un-attaching.

One thing that surprises me is that folks grease their PTO shaft couplings. Both the male and female ends.
This may be fine when it's 80 degrees outside, but what happens when it's cold?
Why not use a simple oil can with something like 10W-30 oil in it.

I find my post hole auger to be fairly easy to put on/take off. I just disassemble it- pull the pin and take the pto shaft and gearbox/auger off. Then pull the pin between the other two parts. It’s an easy one man job.
