Importing data sets from Excel to R

This is a tutorial of how to import data sets from excel into R. I forgot to mention that you must remove any number formatting (i.e.4592200 instead of $4,592,200) in excel before you save the csv file. Otherwise, R will treat that column as a factor instead of numeric which is not what you want

hello, I'm having a problem with the last part where you select specific variables to create a smaller matrix. When I try to do it, it says it doesn't recognize the function nab.rooks. I don`t understand what the problem is...could you help me out?

I couldnt, but I cant find the mistake. There it says: - Error: unexpected '>' in ">" - I put it: data<-read.csv('data.csv')
So, I dont understand why it says that I put > when I put none >
