I know this might be a stretch but I was wondering if you could give brutally honest feedback on my draft essay? If not I understand but it would mean the world coming from someone who was excepted into such a high level school. Heres the Essay -
When people ask, “Who is your favorite person?”, most pick the obvious answers—a parent or close friend. Some even say “no one.” But my favorite person isn’t “no one.” In fact, she is the opposite of no one. She is someone—someone who showed me what strength truly looks like.

My favorite person is a girl who had to mentally become an adult the day her little sister stepped into the world. She went from foster care to an abusive home while raising her younger sister all on her own. Only two years older than her sister, yet acting like her mother. She gave her sister joy by shielding her from the terrible things happening around them. She taught her to be smart because the world is a dangerous place. She raised her to fight, not back down, because she knew that one day, her sister would have to stand on her own. But even then, she knew her sister would never truly be alone—because she would always be there by her side.

My favorite person suffers from trauma, mental illness, and was physically abused from a young age. But through it all, she held her head high—and held her sister’s even higher—because that’s the kind of person she is.

My favorite person is my older sister. She struggled so I wouldn’t have to. She cried so I didn’t. She worked so I could play, and she fought for me when I didn’t have the strength to fight for myself. Without her, I wouldn’t be as outgoing, thoughtful, cheerful, intelligent, or as strong as I am today.

Through my sister, I learned the importance of family. I learned that strength isn’t just about taking care of yourself—it’s about taking care of others, even when you’re struggling. I learned that struggle isn’t weakness, but an opportunity to grow your sense of self and awareness of others. She taught me to recognize when people are hurting so I can be a light in their darkness, just like she was for me. I learned to be independant and to shape my own path while she helped me shape my values and build my character so I can be the person I want to be. Not the person I was told to be growing up. I want to shine brightly and live my life to the fullest while personally growing my path and understanding of others.

Her strength didn’t just shape my values—it shaped my future. Because of her, I’ve learned to look out for the people around me. I take care of my friends, and I can sense when they’re hurting and know how to help ease their pain. Supporting others and helping them work through their problems has always come naturally to me. That’s why I want to study psychology—to become a mental health therapist. Many of my friends come to me when they’re struggling because they know they can count on me to be the therapist-friend they need. I want to help people like my sister navigate their mental struggles so they can live fuller, happier lives.

My sister is a big part of my life, as she helped me grow, but I don't want to live under her wing. I don't want to be the helpless little girl I was when she protected me. I want to be strong for her.

I want to use the strength my sister gave me to pursue an education so I can become something great. I want to show her that she didn’t give up her childhood just for me to follow the wrong path. I want her to see that she made a lasting impact on my life—and that she is just as special and important as she made me feel growing up. I want to become the light that not only lights others' darkness—but honors the one who first lit mine.

Hey! I have a huge passion for psychology. I'm writing my common app essay about me opposing the fact that everyone is equal (as their personality aren't) and trying to find the psychology behind people's mind. After that, I advocated my classmates about the importance of equality. Ironic, right? Can you give me some advice if i should/should not bring this topic?
