The g87 and g80 can be questionable with styling, the M1 and M2cs are in the hall of fame on capability and styling across the masses and for years to come will be the gold standard. The S55 is one of the most underrated engines in the bmw lineup IMO. My vote is the M2cs. I have owned the 1M Coupe and it is a great drivers car. I have owned the first series M2 and really enjoyed it. I have owned the F80 M3 Comp and currently own the 2018 F80 M3 CS. I recently added the G82 M4 50 Jahre edition to my collection and decided not to go for the new M2. That is because the M4 will be better suited for longer Autobahn driving than the M2 with its shorter wheel base. As for styling, I kinda like both the new M2 and M3/4 despite the controversy.

The 1 series M coupe will always be a classic. With that said, I own the G87 M2 and it is a blast to drive.

I'm fortunate to own both a 1M and M2CS. Both are amazing cars and plenty capable. The 1M is destined to become a true icon for BMW, there's no dispute. The M2CS has the potential to become an iconic BMW as well, but the 1M has already made its way into the "iconic" BMW list... time will tell. Until then, I'll enjoy each. Ironically I enjoy my modded 135i most of all! :)

Fantastic video Nate I enjoyed it! I’m looking to buy the new G87 M2 and personally although not quite as pretty as the previous gen, I still like it. As BMW are highly likely to release a xdrive competition variant in the near future - I think it’s best to wait for one of those. Keep up the great work.

Great comparison, but you didn't mention one of the big differences between the old and new M2: the almost infinite variations possible with new M2's handling, steering and braking settings. How was it set up during this video? If the back end wasn't as playful as you like, did you try changing the DSC or M Traction Control?

G87 all day, was between both a used M2CS and a new G87, G87 hands down. Look extremely menacing in person especially when lower, muscle car like design. M2CS is a looker for sure but dated when sitting next to G87

This is one of the best BMW videos out there, carwow did something like this but going straight, your input put my curiosity to rest wow wished you could have also have a tuned 135i N54 into the mix but that M1 is basically a 135i so i'll take it, keep it up with the old vs the new that's awesome, doing some tuned older models vs the newer ones is a cool concept, and to your question which one will i pick with no hesitation that M2.
