BMW M2 long term review: Living with a G87 M2

Now have had the G87 BMW M2 on a week long press loan from @bmwuk we manage to get loads of miles on the clock to see how it is as a long termer

Is this new G87 BMW M2 any good at being a daily wagon?

We push it to the max to see what we think.

Is it a Baby Supercar for half the price of one? Also with in this iteration with a manual box is this one of the best cars out there right now?

Big thanks go out to @bmwuk for our press loan

Love your review and as an owner of a 2024 M2 with manual trans, I fully agree. This car is an absolute hoot to drive and proves to be a great daily driver and really fun toy when you want to have fun. I absolutely love it.

Ordered a “refreshed” M2 last week (480 hp / 600 nm). Automatic. The manual might be good but it is old fashioned and - at best - slightly modified from previous generations. With the automatic the car is faster and you gain 50 nm as compared to the manual. Easy choice for me.
Oh, and I have a 2022 MX-5 with the possibly best manual box on the market right now. So, I can have good old fashioned fun whenever I feel like it. Cheers and thanks for the brilliant review 👍

Because you have the track pack I guess you have cup 2 tyres rather than P4S tyres. Hence why could be more lively in lower temps?

I'm looking to use this year-round in Chicago, so driving in snow is a concern. Obviously, I'll equip it with a set of proper snow tires throughout winter, but it is a powerful RWD nonetheless. Have you driven in snow? What are your thoughts on this? Thanks.

I'm guessing from the vid, you quite like this car? lol
I am 1 week into new ownership of this amazing car (Manual with comfort pack) and loving it. At the beginning of your review 09:30 "Negative Flaw", you said you would show the app and how to turn off the lane change and speed limiter and to stay off. Sadly, you didn't touch on this. Speed limit isn't too much of a problem as long hold on the SET button on wheel turns that off but lane change, I still find I need to go into my shortcuts every time I start the engine.
There is a lot to learn with all the modes and I'm trying not to overwhelm myself, just enjoying the car. Anyway, great review on a great car.

Hi I loved the video
Have one myself manual best car I've owned for years
Carbon seats is up to the individual!!
I have the standard m colour seats and find these on a daily basis fine and are bolster adjustable as well 😊

One big reason for me for this over m3 comp, ideally I would would get a m3 touring in manual if bmw made one, but in my country only offers m3 in a competition, this car feels more fun on the road, for the M3 comp I had to go insane speeds to start having fun

Does the sound change when you change from „sport“ to „super sport“ ? Both have valves open, but maybe there is still a difference ?

Its a great review, but I've heard the opposite about the manual in a ton of reviews! Also in general, don't you think the RS3 is a better daily driver!? The interior gets fake sounds pumped in through the speakers from what i hear!

I do like the M2 but it really is a car for the track. I took delivery of my new M240 2 weeks ago and it really suits UK roads more. It also cost £15k less.

Well I have watched just about every review on this car and everyone bar none have loved this car yet you don't see any on the road why is that

There are pretty looks and then you have this chiseled and masculine. I think it's right on the money. Nothing like it in every respect on the road. Your review was very helpful, (great roads) Cheers !

Ugh I'm so torn on the seats. Everyone says different things. Great for daily or uncomfortable. But they look great.
Everyone does agree it takes finesse to get in and out.

I'm a former track runner so I have thick legs so hopefully I fit 😆
I was snug in the regular sport seats

Nothing wrong with a coupe for a daily. Outside of the poor pricing, the rear bumper (front as well to a lesser degree) and color selection the only things stopping me from getting one. Why can't I get Thundernight Metallic on a M2, just on a M240i again? It would likely look fantastic with more life than just black and hide the fugly bumper details.

I am torn between this and the x7. I know I know apples and oranges. I am in the hunt for a fam car but I made the mistake of test driving the m2 randomly! Omg what a car for the money!! If I end up getting a fam car I'm gonna have to wait much longer before I can get an M2. Any moral support would be much appreciated lol!!

The cheap "Mustang" display is so incongruous to the rest of the interior. I know it is vastly more expensive for a few custom displays, a binnacle, switchgear and this is a huge savings for BMW but I don't mind paying for Porsche style analog gauges or something. The rest of the car is wicked and looks great.

Wouldn’t bother with the manual its 2024 levers and pedals are medieval
