I re-wrote the High Guardian Spice 'trans scene' because I had to.

I really love that trans rep is becoming more common these days, but the way High guardian spice did it just didn't sit right by me.
I wanted to show this scene a bit more love so enjoy~

This animatic made Rosemary far more cute, entertaining, and engaging as a character than anything as obnoxious as the actual show provides, it tells us that she has so much to learn about the world and the people around her without resorting to her just being a "quirky weirdo" that has her actions bite her on the ass constantly.

This feels like he has genuine emotion, like it's personal and he's a real character, instead of just giving a lecture. Of course there's still the issue of line delivery, which we don't get here, but it still sounds more promising.

Just the way he laughed when she said "I don't know that word" made the scene leagues better; instant personality.

Yep, this felt waaayyyy more natural. It showed actual emotion. And the use of magic to project it, and the analogy of clothes not fitting and bringing it back a few seconds later with "I guess it fits better now, right?" followed with the little laugh and "yeah" is thoughtful and well-written.
This feels more authentic, is what I'm trynna say. It felt realler; like if/when I'm an adult explaining my gender identity to a little child, this is probs similar to what I'd say.

Rather than just explaining the backstory like he’s reading a bullet point PowerPoint, This scene properly demonstrates character by having him react and express emotions as he’s telling his story, allowing the viewer to better empathize to his struggle. Imagine if everything in the show was written with this level of care, could’ve had something great.
Edit: holy shit 1k likes thank y’all :)

Why does this look better than actual the show? It has depth, the eyes have a soul! Wonderful explaining things with sophistication and subtlety. Nice work you should make your own anime.

This gives off more of a "Show AND tell" in a way that isn't insulting nor in your face, but more like a kind teacher helping a student understand what they might perceive to be a complex thing to exist and I don't see that as a bad thing.

Haven't watched the show aside from clips from criticizers but this completely made me care about the two characters despite knowing barely any about them! That's definitely a good showcase of characterization in my book!

So... Many things you did here that are great: First the question didn't feel forced, it was a natural question from a curious character. Second you SHOWED didn't just TELL about how he used magic to transform into a guy. Third and most importantly you linked the act of using magic to the character and it feels like he is thankful with magic cause it made him be how he really is. Wonderful just wonderful. Btw my native language isn't English so sorry if I misspelled some words xd.

Imagine a show being SO BAD that a fan remade scene has more depth and emotion behind it than stuff written by professionals 💀

"Well then, let me show you."

That. That right there _alone_ makes this scene better. Because you are showing and not telling.

The dialogue also felt more genuine and less forced than the original. The original had all the subtlety of Captain Planet, whereas this feels more like a heartwarming Hey Arnold episode.

Wow, this scene does a better job conveying the situation that a trans person has to go through, and taking advantage that this is a magic world, where the phrase "Show, don't tell" will likely to be highly emphasized.

THIS. As a trans guy, this scene is how I would’ve like it to go. Everything about this is perfect: the expressions, the naturalist way of ‘show don’t tell’, going into depth about dysphoria rather than rushing over the scene without conveying the struggle of being trans. I especially loved the profs expression of pure happiness after discussing his new body. Amazing amazing amazing

Are we not gonna talk about how the camera panning felt so natural and smooth in 00:39 to 00:44 ? Honestly made a beautiful scene even better.

This show is like Yandere simulator

The 90% of their audience just want to show what they can do it better than the original
(Very good animation)

Thank you for making this. The original scene just was so awkward and forced that while the message is great, it lands poorly and feels almost uncomfortable. This is MUCH more natural and sweet, and actually very heartfelt. Great job. I’ll definitely be rewatching and studying this to understand how much it improves on the original scene. (Also some people argue that the original scene feels jarring and wasn’t necessary to the plot at all, which I do agree with, as it could’ve been more subtle/less out of the open, I feel like your version still handles it exactly right. Explaining it in a nice way that makes the characters already feel more natural, which the show in general lacks. It feels like an interaction by two people, and not a lecture to an audience, like it first was. You are very talented. I never comment on videos but I just had to give my praises and thanks!)

Now this scene flows better than Rosemary jumping topics about Caraway. Really love the show it not just say it.

Compared the original scene, this is leagues better. It felt very soft and heartwarming, and the interaction between Rose and the Teacher felt very natural and not forced. As well as him taking the chance to teach Rose and help her learn something new really follows along with the fact that he’s, ya know- a teacher. And Rose joking at the end to help lighten to mood is a very endearing touch to an overall obnoxious character. I much prefer how you portrayed them than how the original went.

I never understood what was the problem with Rose not knowing what being trans is.
I always pictured her archetype as a country girl with little knowledge of the big city, breaking out of her little shell and learning that real life is no song.
The excuse that the show is intended for an adult audience and they don’t need an explanation never did it for me either because again, plenty of people don’t have the resources to know about queerness firsthand and media is as good a place as any to start.
Honestly between having a fantasy world with equality and no prejudice to speak of, like She-Ra and The Owl House, and one with issues akin to the real world I’d always choose the latter.
As A queer person it never feels like home when watching an egalitarian utopia. I always know deep down that it’s a fantasy and it couldn’t possibly happen in the real world – but a world like my own where the fight can be fought and won… I like this.

Fuck, this is WAAAAY better than what the show actually did.

The extra visual element adds a LOT to the language of the scene, plus it's nice that you gave Rosemary some actual good dialogue and insight to give in the scene. This feels so much more natural.

The fact that this has more care about what it feels to be transgender to people that aren't, plus that you use the magic setting to illustrate it more fantasy-like than the show. It was so perfect!
