I did that train-hell commute from Oxfordshire in the 1990s for 14 years. ( Didcot-Cannon Street). I wouldn't be alive today if I had not escaped. I was earning GBP 70 K + bonuses. Left for APAC in 1998. Now work-free and debt-free with house and car. Monthly expenses GBP 400. Live by a beach with a gym. Free healthcare. 37 C. I wouldn't wish to be in Oxford or London or the UK for that matter ever again.

Philippines? Looks like you went to coron! Beautiful huh? We are moving the family from New Zealand to Oxford soon, was good to see this breakdown in costs.. avoid train at all costs then.. very expensive!

Re the 25% discount you get on Council Tax, so 2 people would pay X amount, seems a bit unfair that you only get 25% off for a single occupier, instead of 50%. Seems like discrimination against people solely because they live alone.
