"large capacity roads have to be built to accommodate our growing population"

No! Roads are literally the most inefficient way of transportation. I look at all of these intersections and god...

JUST BUILD A TRAIN!

I am actually kinda surprised the Springfield Mixing Bowl just south of Washington, D.C. also did not get a mention. That is where I-95, I-395, and I-495 all come together, not to mention the exit to get to Springfield/Franconia is also right there.

I like to think that Hachiko finally met his/her master and together they walked home after the dog died. 🐶

The High 5 was backed up from the day it opened, and now they are widening 635 to 12 lanes to handle increased traffic, and the feeder ramp merges are always backed up. It went from stopped traffic on 3 levels to stopped traffic on 5 levels.

Absolutely nuts! Only the locals should ever attempt those interchanges. 😊

How is Atlanta's Spaghetti Juntion (I-85 & I-285) not on the list?

"large capacity roads HAVE TO be built in order to...." but, no they don't, and the results of this thinking are horrible and the most inefficient imaginable. Instead, just keep building rail until medium and low capacity roads work just fine. Rail is waaaay more efficient and should always be the first choice. Its usually a grave error when we do otherwise.

The only time I have ever seen anything like your first one in Ethiopia was when I came home from a shelter after hurricane Irma, and traffic lights were out on an intersection of two eight lane roads with double left turn lanes. The scene was a lot like what is on the video.

The Laguna Garzon Bridge should totally be called the "rule of cool bridge", then 😂

Most of these are motorway/freeway interchanges. Two intersections in city downtowns that involved multiple streets coming together were Confusion Corner in Stuart, FL and The Octopus in Ithaca, NY, both of which I had the pleasure of negotiating. Thankfully, both were redesigned to make them rather less daunting, mainly by splitting each one into two.

In France on roundabouts the feeder road traffic has NOT the right of way. There are exemptions like the huge one you mentioned but the roundabout sign clearly has "the traffic inside the roundabout has priority".

The Arc the triomphe one does not have roundabout signage. So its right before left - hence the feeder traffic has the right of way

Shibuya crossing is busy but safe. It is very well controlled. I have crossed several times as a tourist.

When discussing the High Five Interchange in Dallas (Interstate 635 and US 75), most of the footage is instead of the Downtown Horseshoe (Interstates 35E, 30, 45, US 75, and Woodall Rogers Fwy).

"The High Five interchange has been proven to be a major success" he says, showing footage of half the intersection at a near standstill

The Dallas high five video correctly identifies its location, but in the middle of that when the physical description is going on, the video actually shows a completely different interchange miles away at downtown Dallas. It can be identified with the globe topped tower of Reunion Tower shown in the video.

#3: Amarillo, Texas also has a turbine-style interchange---the junction of I-40 and I-27. However, the one in Amarillo is built on a much smaller footprint. This leads to the curves being much tighter, and it can be quite nerve-wracking to drive. There have been calls to replace it with a conventional stack interchange.

The Maze in the SF Bay Area has five freeways coming together, which can be incredibly chaotic if you're not used to it. I'm surprised it's not on the list.

Mostar interchange in Belgrade is example how to make a connection between 3 boulevards, a motorway and integrate parking lot into a interchange.

It has 1 traffic light.
