Do Hertz Matter For Getting The Best TV Picture? 60Hz ...

If you're not gaming, is 60Hz enough for an HDTV? Viewer Ash doesn't play games on his HDTV, and rarely watches sports, so would a 60Hz display be a good way to get a bargain? Watch the video to find out if you need to bump it up to 120Hz for a good picture.

back in the 80's and 90's you had a tv, or you didn't. and that was pretty much it.

"By the end of this year everything is going to be 120hz" - hahahaha, way to predict the future there. 2014 $450 42" TV's are still 60hz.

Yer 120hz is great for TV watching Sports/Movies etc But when it comes to games, Make sure you enable the game mode option in the TV settings. This will disable the post processing what we talked about making games playable.

the most important thing you have to understand FPS and Hz are two different things !!! they have nothing to do with each other. FPS is how many frames per second and Hertz is how quick the TV is refreshing

For gaming you need as much as possible, 120hz or more. But also powerful GPU needed.

Depending on the size of your monitor, for a large monitor you will discover better quality with a higher refresh rate than 60hz. So for a 50 inch monitor between 120 and 240hz is more than adequate for a 32" inch to even a 42" inch 60hz Is enough.

The bigger the screen the higher the refresh rate needs to be as the screen has to blow up the image to a bigger panel. So the higher the refresh rate the better the picture will look.

120 Hz LCD's almost always are horrible for gaming because the interpolation processing done by the TV adds input lag (the time difference between pushing a button on the controller and actually seeing it happening on the TV). "Game mode" on these TV's bypasses 120 Hz interpolation and other image processing bringing the input lag down, but then again it is the same as a 60 Hz television at that point, while usually STILL having higher input lag.

It will be fine for Console Gaming, has its still only a 60hz display and PS3 etc are max 60hz. But if you thinking on running PC on it, it will be fine for the 60hz just dont go thinking you can use the 100hz for gaming.

100hz is just for TV viewing.

Yes if you using a HDTV and has this motion 120hz etc, if you playing games make sure to use the game mode setting on the TV.
This will switch of all the post processing and stop the lag etc.

So what would a 600Hz 50 inch plasma do?

6 years later, 60Hz is still the norm. Obviously 120Hz is overkill to the most people. Being a "smart" TV has nothing to do with the picture quality. 3D is dead by now. 3D was available as early as 1950's. It will never work if 3D requires funny eye-glasses.

Settle for a 100hz guys, it's cheaper. But if you want that extra smooth picture then go for 120hz.

It's 2015 and the 120Hz TVs are much more expensive than 60Hz (for a 50 inch). This video still hasn't helped me make my decision....
Help anyone?

I don't think you will notice much difference after 120 Hz for gaming. If you are a heavy sports fan than you might want 240 Hz. If you can only get 60 Hz than don't worry but if you can get 120 Hz for gaming that is what I would get. The only time you would need 240 Hz for gaming is if you are playing a VERY high speed games such as fast racing games and other fast games.
