Chopsticks can be difficult to learn to use. Some countries in Asia have specific types of chopsticks and specific etiquette on how to use them. Many people don't notice the difference between types of chopsticks, so today I will be comparing Chinese, Japanese, and Korean chopsticks.

I have 5 chopsticks. Not 5 pairs of chopsticks, but 5 chopsticks. Everyone asks me why.

A friend had 10 chopsticks. He told me I could take a few to myself. So I took five.

Chinese.... To take away the food from people.
To hit those who try to take my food.
Japanese.... To pinch those who try to take my food even after being hit by korean ones. 😂😂🤣🤣 lol.

Type does not matter. Watching my friends rage because they dropped the dumpling halfway from the tray to their bowl is what matters. Seeing them try to eat rice is hilarious too.

I'm a terrible person.

Since i was stationed in Korea in 2006, i use that style of chopstick more frequently than the others. I bought a set of 10 stainless steel chopsticks and then bought the Japanese style in bamboo and use those as well for eating all Asian dishes. I make sure to use a spoon for my rice, and that is how i have taught my kids to eat Korean food.

is it just me or does he lowkey look like Jackie Chan

edit: jeez guys chill. It was just an observation, not a "oh all Asians look the same". I think i would know better, i am one too. Y'all are quick to label people *racist* over anything these days wow. That wasn't even meant in a disrespectful way. I have nothing but love and respect for this guy, I've followed his channel for a few years now.

Great research!! I want to add more things about Korean's chopsticks though. why are Korean chopsticks flat and made out of steel instead of wood? well because we sometimes use chopsticks for tearing apart Kimchi and fish etc. and sometimes Korean banchans (sidedishes) are heavier than the other countries' so we don't like wooden chopstick because it is bent and twisted sometimes when you grab heavier things among banchans. and you have to use metal chopsticks especially when you have a Samgeytang or Gamjatang because you have to separate your bone between meat with metal chopsticks. and think about Korean bbq. if you use wooden chopsticks then your chopstick will burn by the fire.

Eating difficulty level.

1. Chopsticks
2. Fork, Spoon, Knife
3. Bare hands

note: some foods require to eat with bare hands. other are specifically cultural thing.

Would have also be interesting for some to see the different ways the Chinese/Koreans/Japanese hold chopsticks as well as do's/don'ts of each culture in comparison.

2:16 the flat metal chopsticks in this photo is the most common standard chopstick you’d find in a Korean home. Also the traditional korean etiquette is to eat rice and soup with spoon and side dishes with chopsticks. And DON’T lift your bowl from the table.

The one he has is actually a chinese chopstick, or more like how chinese chopsticks made and sold in korea are like. They are vacuum hollow on the inside so they are very light and are found in many school and hospital cafeterias.
