so let me get this str8, cause ive been doing a lot of research on different ways to DJ and im trying to understand: using timecode is a way of turntablism without having to buy a bunch of records. all your music [records] are stored on your laptop and you just use a special vinyl and you can do all your scratching and cue points on your turntable. right? correct me if im wrong

Timecode vinyl is a vinyl record that allows the ability to control the "time" of the song playing on that track. So, using Serato SL (whatever) I have SL2, you connect that to you computer and are able to scratch, mix, and play whatever songs you have on your computer. No more lugging records

@JZentertainment yes it does matter, it functions just like real vinyl, the farther you place it in the record, the farther in the song it plays

Thanks for the info, now if have use for my Technics D2, the motor seems to be weak. But I do want to see how timecoding work with my virtual DJ pro and my vms4. I just order a traktor timecode vinyl can't wait to test it out.

I currently use a Rane SL2 & Serato Timecode CD's with Virtual Dj 7 and it works perfect. I havent been able to config the TTM as of yet

Have you properly set up stereo audio connections? When I first tried this with a mono turntable, it could only go forward.

@djayslick I can't say for sure, but what I'm thinking is that you should mess around with the knobs on the configuration screen (the one with the green circles), more specifically the gain because it's not loud enough when it is just playing normally so the gray outline is omitting it, thinking it is just a hum from bad quality connections or something.

@ashuuz I don't have one, but virtual DJ is a VERY open program and can use just about anything, including things from other brands, so I'd assume so, yes.

So basically all your doing is putting data ( the time code from the virtual DJ too the DVS record to able to play the song Directly onto the vinyl. Right, what if want to play vinyl onto the computer, which I want to do do you need DVS controller

@technology49 Correct! The timecode vinyls play a sound that goes into the mixer and into the computer for it to translate into data.

@frankieboyhey900090 you can really use any turntable as long as they have the red am white component cables to go to your audio interface, and have a timecode vinyl on the platter, it should work as long as the computer can hear the noise the timecode makes.

@ScottTechReviews I had the wires in properly, for some reason, when the tracks started, they were throwing audio in with the signal, so I disablewd Stereo Mix in volume control and it worked perfectly. There's also a Smart Scratch feature, when enabled, will not make any scratching sounds. I'm trying to figure out how to get the tracks to reset back to the beginning when I cue the timecode cd back to the beginning of the timecode track.

@Ferrari19ful yes it should work with every turntable as long as you have the right timecode vinyl (they're cheap, around $10). CDJs should work too, but I couldnt get mine working for some reason, I must've burnt the wrong file to the timecode CD I made, but it should work for all aswell.

Do I need to download software. I'm using reloop rmx 60 pro, two stanton t.90s two timecode vinyls. Virtual dj 2020 home. Do I need anything else for the use of timecode

Soo...because im a little confused...You connect the turntables to the mixxer and then the mixer to the pc and VDJ.And then you put on the turntables the timecodes and you are ready right?

Thanks for the video have one question will any type of timecode work for example tractor or serato? Thanks

@funwithfernando from experience, I'm not really sure there's much of a difference, but then again, my DJing doesn't consist of very heavy turntablism. However, Virtual DJ recommends serato timecodes over traktor's.

Will a timecode work with Virtual Dj if I use it with the numark iBATTLEPACK?
