I read an article years ago, when these products that attach to the tripod mount on the bottom of the camera first started appearing, written by an engineer in the camera industry said that it was not a good idea. Reasons he gave were that that attachment point was only for an amount of force that pushed inward to the camera body and wasn’t meant for that point to be pulled in the other direction. When you hang a weighty body and lens from that point and it swings around while you’re walking, the forces become even greater and there is a chance of the body being deformed by this. I have been tempted many times but think I will continue using the connection points on my camera that were designed for a strap.

Only issue i have with tripod mount style attachments, although very unlikely, they can be a single point of failure and can wriggle loose over time if you never tighten it, then boom your camera is in a broken mess on the ground. Good idea, but ill stick with my normal strap like i have been doing for decades.

I still prefer the peak design capture clip especially with the dual plate because it can mount on Manfrotto or Arca mounts which is a HUGE time saver for me

I would not recommend using the thread mount for taking the full weight and load of the camera day in day out as eventually it will fail with hair line fractures and is not supported this way from the manufacturers I believe. I use the peak design straps and have no problem with the tags.

I use for my camera system the SpiderPro-Camera-Holder. It is in a belt format, that gives the opportunity to store your camera at the hip. Love the system, been using it since 3 years now

I shamelessly copied this idea to the letter. It is certainly the best solution I have found. I now can sling the strap around a shoulder, it hangs properly even with a telephoto lens. Also I can detach the camera and mount to a tripod all without changing anything! Result!😊😊😊

While these camera connectors look cool and certainly serve a great purpose, I just don't like them. As a landscape and bird shooter, I prefer to just leave an L-bracket attached (or in the bag) for both landscape and portrait orientations on a tripod if needed. As for a strap, Nikon makes a super thin one that has been around since the 1970's. It's a plain black (there's also a yellowish version that I find quite garish) with no logo and is super lightweight so the wind makes no problem and it does not add to the weight you're carrying. These straps are like 20 USD. I've personally been using these straps for 20 years and they've worked out great for me. You buy one and it never goes bad. I've actually had one for 20 years, and just swap it to the next new camera, tho I did get a brand-new one when I upgraded to mirrorless last year. No need for me to change.

Yup. I solved this problem the same way a couple weeks ago. Im really liking the Falcam f38 system. And I also got a Falcam backpack clip. Amazing stuff.

Ordered this just after seeing this video. To about 2 months to get it even on Amazon, but it's REALLY nice. Used it this weekend when I shot an event. I have a PD plate and it works great! Thanks for the great idea!!

Been using the Falcam quick release system (strap, backpack, tripod, etc) for over a year now and LOVE the set up! Can’t recommend it enough.

If you have the Peak Design Capture Clip already, you can create something similar. You need a piece of cloth or leather to put inside the capture clip to make sure it doesn't tighten all the way together. Then you simply take it apart, hook two such peak design loops around the two screw mounts, which look like pipes, put in the cloth or leather, fold it if you have to, and put it together. The purpose of the leather or cloth is to make sure that the peak design loops aren't "chewed" into by the capture clip, but should instead be able to rotate freely around their anchor points.

This is gear we need when shooting all day with 2-3 camera! Big applause to the inventor 👏

This would only be good if youre all in on the PD plates. another option, while not as quick, is the PD anchor links to make any camera strap pretty quick

I have almost 3 years using the system, best ever!

Black Rapid is all I need - especially good for carrying two cameras.

I absolutely love the fact that with that strap plate you don't have to adjust the strap length ever again, because whenever you want to take a low angle shot, a vertical shot or just bring camera further away from your body (for whatever reason) the strap is no longer in the way. Before that even with PD anchors attached at the bottom plate, you would still have to adjust the strap length to do your business from time to time... or even disconnect the strap and put it somewhere. And now it just hangs on you with or without the camera. I am pretty shocked that it took the industry so much time to come to this design lol.

This is what we want! This is awesome! Thanks for the tip.

Interesting point of view - thanks.
I hated camera bodies hanging around my neck, banging into my chest, so years ago, I swapped to Canon's E2 wrist strap and haven't looked back.
The only down side is that, the Arca Swiss mount, screwed in below it, is slightly cumbersome and more inclined to chafe against my jeans/trousers. Its not a big enough problem to force me back to a 5DIV dangling around my neck.

the PD capture clip has holes on every corner so that you can tie the anchors to. It doesnt interfere with the capture clip either
