Thanks for the tag! I definitely want to do this with some of the oldest books on my TBR. The Natural Way of Things sounds amazing!

Ooh, I really like this format, maybe better than the p.112. You could do a lot with Kindle samples if you run out of books to unhaul!🙋‍♀️💕📚

I did a copy editing job and 'adjectival diarrhea' sometime rings true. Delete, delete, delete.

These sound brilliant, especially the Charlotte Wood. I'm sorry! I'm so forgetful with tags. But it always brings me joy to be tagged by you, even if I'm a lazy so and so.

The Drowner sounds like I will like it. I'll see if I can find it in the US. The Natural Way of Things is an excellent exploration of sexism and its violent consequences. I appreciated it for what it portrayed, and will definitely remember it for a long time.

Canadian English owes a lot to Scottish & Irish. Some of the words you use I immediately understand coming from N.Ireland

I recently heard Amy from Polyreader and Rene from Rene Pierre mention The Natural Order of things recently and although I have it on my TBR, I must admit it scares the heck out of me, look forward to you thoughts on that one. Oh and my Aunt lives in Cornwall, they have their own language and traditions and I think have tried to become independent from England, (like everyone else it seems 😉), beautiful place but suffers from the second home syndrome a bit.

I think Chapel is either Methodist or Welsh, more likely the former. But don't quote me on that.

Cornwall wishes it was the "Quebec of Britain"! Tin mining and smuggling, never recovered from the loss of both local pursuits.

Book1, those dread words 'filmic' language. Makes me run screaming as I imagine the protagonist with a camera affixed to his head. Cormac McCarthy stand up and take a bow on that technique...

Church may mean Church of England/Anglican and chapel may mean Methodist
