This is financial advice and I never give financial advice: DONT LEAVE DURING THE BEAR. If you don’t want to invest…learn. If you don’t want to learn…build. If you don’t want to build observe. DO SOMETHING…other than leave. There is so much opportunity here. Take advantage!

A note on IQ from a social scientist who works with that data: Above two standard deviations the reliability goes down a lot. A person scores 145 and a person who scores 180 aren't noticeably different in any performative metric--typically it's just a sign that one person has more experience with the specific methodology of the test. People above 130 tend to have a lot of variation in their scores when tested multiple times where people below it are highly likely to cluster within a few points and see no improvement on repeating the same test.

the average school teacher is definitely not in the 120 range.

I was about 136 in middle school but idk. Me personally I really don’t care about test.

The capability to remember well is the main thing. I personally believe, if you apply yourself and focus on remembering/learning, have great self discipline and time management skills with great immersion along with organization, you can be anyone of those positions!

110 - 120 for police officer seems high. I've seen other studies that put it at 100. And, of course, it's been shown that police departments test to screen out applicants with high IQ.

You should also look at the students with the highest IQs according to their majors. I think it's somewhat different than the careers.

I have a supervised Mensa IQ in the 'Above Average' range and I failed to keep a job as an assistant gardener.

The real diminishing return is for Engineers that make a 3rd of other professions with same IQ. Decades went by but still I regret the day I chose Engineering over Medicine

You’re telling me pushing carts into the receptacle isn’t mentally demanding, i’m insulted. 😂 But thats why i do it as a Student, so i can think about other things on the job. Keeps my mind free to learn via audio etc. Walking helps with memory and creativity.I love that people think i’m a dumb pile of rocks, not much to expect from me then.

In my opinion iq tests have negative effects either way. If you score lower than average you might think your less capable of achieving things in life and if you score higher it might bloat your ego or set unrealistic expectations for yourself.

Reaching your goals is a product of effort and luck. Since you can’t impact the latter, simply try to give it your best :)

You forgot to mention that having a high Iq can often make you non functional in society. You have to take into account that the difference between "mentally imparted" people with -let's say -an iq of 70 and "normal people" with an iq of around 100, is AS BIG for those with an iq of 130+ to "normal people" with an Iq of around 100. Having an Iq of 130+, living in a world of 100 Iq, can make you feel like a total outsider, never knowing or understanding why. It can lead to you actually thinking you're the less intelligent one. Feeling you're out of place. Suicide, addiction, etc.

what matters most in terms of finanical suscess is grit, not IQ. this is becuase the job market does not follow IQ. and the person who has grit cares more and are more determine to be suscessful. IQ doesnt equal wanting more money

I took an IQ test when i was a teenager, and it was around 145.

Im not worried about how much money I'll earn. I just want a job that can let me reach use my full potential.

Im majoring on chemical engineering and theoretical physics, but i just learned how....trivial for me that chemical engineering was.

Interesting. However the study missed a large and constantly growing section of the workforce: IT. There you need people with relatively high to very high IQ to function well in solution architecture, data engineering, business analysis, project management, software design, etc.

Regarding diminishing returns:
From a lex fridman richard haier podcast:
They let some kids do some entry-math tests designed for guys some years older than they were. This was in the u.s., some decades ago, and nation wide. So they studied the chunk of kids that actually managed to pass the test, and you could see life-long trends. The top group within the chunk of super gifted kids, had filed far more patents then the other super gifted ones.
