pretty sure there's a way to be nearly invincible in the vanilla game. looking at how the game calculates % dmg reduction, ice turtle shell (25% DR), worm scarf (17% DR) endurance potion (10% DR) beetle armor at full (45% DR) and an ally having the paladin's shield (25% DR) adds up to over 100% DR. look at it this way: you take a 1000 dmg hit. the paladin's shield kicks in before defense, taking away 250 of the dmg. defense is applied, let's say you have 100 (reasonable for a tank) taking away 50 dmg. (700 left) the rest of the % dmg reductions are all added together, for 73.6% dmg reduction, and so 184 dmg taken. if your friend with the paladin's shield has nebula armor, and is using a crab generator to get boosters, and you are using a regen potion and near a campfire, heart lantern, and in honey, your life will regen at an increased rate of +20HP/second and an increased natural healing rate of x1.3. (.1 from campfire, .2 from honey).
along with super healing potions, a philosopher's stone to reduce cooldown, lifeforce potion to get 600 hp, as well as star veil/cross necklace, you will have regenerated about 30HP before you can actually be hit again. as we've only used 4 accessory slots so far, throwing in the master ninja gear to get the 10% chance to dodge attacks, which extends the invincibility period to 2 seconds, allowing you the regen about 45 HP 1/10 hits. (so you take a hit, regen 30, dodge the next hit, regen 45 for a total of 75. this means every time it blocks a hit, you regen 75 hp over 3 1/3 seconds.)

this means that if you are constantly taking 1000 damage hits (assume your friend is using the nurse to stay alive from the 250 dmg hits he is taking) as fast as possible (once every 1 1/3 seconds and 2 seconds every 1/10 times) it would take between 4 and 10 hits (or dodges) to actually kill you (depends on how often the ninja gear dodge activates) which because of the star veil is a surprising 5 1/3 at the minimum to as high as 15-ish seconds (if dodge activates 3 times). this is exciting, because with the right buffs, like from the baby fishron mount plus potions this may be enough time to kill the Dungeon Guardian in normal mode. this means in totally unmodded terraria you could go toe-to-toe with the DG in a dps fight and win.

After the nerf the soul of the universe got, I haven't managed to get a combination of armors giving me anywhere near 2000 health :/ only 1450. Although, I have managed to get my defense to 500-575.

So Dungeon Guardian can still match an invincible build, as I expected, but I'm kinda surprised that Omnicide's debuff doesn't work. They really should do something about this in like the next thorium update.
