I pretty sure Aqua never see Ai as his mom, i mean during his time with Ai as her kid, he never actually call her mom, just "Ai", even in her last moment, so possibly the reason why he blushed because he literally claimed a talent like Ai is something you have to be born with and yet the very next day someone manage to replicate it with grace.
