I plan to head over to your website. I had a stool test that tested positive for SIBO and I am glad to hear that it is something that I can recover from.

Great explanation. I have read a lot about SIBO but I like your scientific explanation and talking about the Interstitial cells of Cajal to describe how SIBO happens.

I was diagnosed with Hyplori infection which caused gastritis. Sick for 6 months before getting diagnosis most likely food poisioning.Took the antibiotics fir 15 days, amoxicilian metronidanol, clarithromycin and omeprazol. Had a lot of pain during the treatment but no side effects, However its been 9 days after the antibiotics and feel tired, joint pain etc like before headaches and irritable. Just wondering what to do next I cant really handle this anymore its killer. They said to wait two months before taking an eradication test.I couldn't help but think that maybe it was SIBO. I was diagnosed via biopsy.Any thoughts. Thanks in advance your videos are great you know your stuff. My doctors were ignorant and unhelpful

Lifestyle, diet, exercise plenty of quality rest are key to ones balance for staying healthy!

Hypothyroidism, challenge the above and still does! Gut health I have found to be the resolve but keeping a constant balance the ongoing challenge!

I find your teaching helps me understand so much more on this subject, looking forward to more of your excellent treatment of others and outcomes!

I have the same question...can I recover from the autoimmune damage that had occurred in my small intestine?

Very informative and encouraging.  I am wondering if in your experience you have ever met anyone who had this damage due to drinking kefir.  I can pinpoint to the day I tried store bought milk kefir - I had never had it before and I am not lactose intollerant.   I really feel like it was the kefir that caused my severe GI issues that would not go away even after stopping the kefir after two days.  I am wondering if it created such a harsh environment in the lower intestine for candida or parasites, that either the candida or parasite die off chemicals overloaded my liver, gall bladder and pancreas or the candida and or parasites moved to the small intestine.  At any rate it's something to look into, I wonder if anyone else, in an attempt to "cleanse" themselves too quickly of bad gut bacteria, has inadvertently acquire SIBO or temporary sibo like conditions.  Seems many SIBO suffers eat less and less - but my answer was to find foods that agree with me and don't cause GI issues - also to take coconut oil and honey with cinnamon in normal small amounts but every day. I began the coconut oil because at first I read how it killed h pylori and I wasn't sure if I has contracted that somehow, I had similar issues as someone with an unlcer - but it just seemed too coincidental - that I had the initial (and read later - standard) reaction to drinking too much kefir too quickly.  The second day on kefire I had a severe reaction to it and from that day forward I could hardly eat anything without having terrible pain about an hour later, and these were foods that I could normally stomach before the kefir.  Terrible stomach distention and gas pains within an hour after eating.  day after day for a week.  So I behan the coconut oil in cranberry tea and coconut oil in homemade granola with honey and cinnamon - and I kept it up because I had no pain after eating it.  I continue the coconut oil in tea or coffee even now.  I am able to eat almost all the foods I could eat before the kefir incident.  I still stay away from fried eggs & potatoes, large salads or too many raw veggies, too much trail mix, uncooked apples and peaches.  I can eat many other fruits in small amount now, and a tiny bit of salad veggies.  I am hoping my post may encourage people to try the coconut oil daily, in small amounts - don't over-do anything. Also honey is supposed to be healing and cinnamon regulates blood sugar, if the pancreas is not functioning correctly, this may help.  I think the important thing is to try to heal things up.  If anyone has tried these same food items with success I sure would love to hear about it, or especially if anyone else can pin point the day they got SIBO, and if it was indeed food poisoning or perhaps something else that caused the servere GI bout, something like kefir?  I know many people love kefir but it is possible it is too strong for some people and they shouldn't have a let's jump on the band wagon attitude about it, it is powerful and the toxins when candida is killed off too quickly can wreck havoc on the health. - look up herheimer reaction may be brushed aside by some as something you just need to power through, but if this is causing people to suffer terribly and if they keep it up irreversibly that is a shame.  Healthy should mean you feel great not that you have to kill ever last candida colony, or gut parasite until you can't eat anything but rice and broth.

What does SIbo treatment involve? I was just wondering if brain fog, itchy ears and itchy private parts is related to candida? I got a positive test for SIbo but didn't find overgrowth of candida in stool?

hey doc,
I just had a nasty three day stomach virus, (stayed one one day, parents forced me to go to school the other two). While at first it was very severe(constant stomach pain, chills, severe diarrhea, high fever, aches and pains etc). During the first day I was stuck in bed clinching my stomach and going to the bathroom hourly. My parents gave me an advil and called it a day. The only relief I felt was when I was taking a hot shower. It progressively got better (lost constant stomach pain the 2nd day, diarrhea stopped becoming hourly. The third day i lost the fever and the body aches). The only thing that was left was diarrhea. I was feeling pretty confident that I would be completely healed after a good nights rest. (for the duration i only ate chicken noodle soup, Gatorade, water, and a couple of chicken wings and apple sauce). I did think it was weird how my diarrhea was still pretty severe even though it's frequency improved, but I didn't think too hard about it. Then I woke up on the fourth day at 2 a.m with a severely bloated stomach and the now all too familiar feeling of needing to go to the bathroom, I went and still had diarrhea and passed gas like never before. Recognizing how the gas was new and wasn't really a sympthon of the stomach virus, i did a little research. Which concluded me into thinking it may be SIBO, which is how i stumbled into your channel. Anyways, now it is 4 a.m on the same day and my stomach is constantly making irritable growling noise and i have mildly severe gas typing this paragraph. I'm thinking of making my parents take me to the doctor today and getting tested for SIBO if possible. I don't know what to do doc, I don't wan't to deal with SIBO for the rest of my life, or even the next 5 years. I can't imagine going through highschool and college with it.

Thanks for the excellent information. I have a question:
If bowl transit time is fast (13 hours) can a person still suffer from SIBO?

I have cleared my sibo three times and had a clear breath test but it just keeps coming back. I wonder how we can heal these interstitial cells.

Does this apply if the food poisoning occured over 20 years ago or longer.

oops I meant herxheimer reaction - or Jarisch-Herxheimer reaction  - typing too fast and not proofreading - canida die off can release up to 79 different toxins and some of them are very hard on the organs that help to break down and process food.  I don't think this should be taken lightly, I think a more balanced approach should be taken to digestive health, where people slowly balance out the bacteria in the gut - no harsh cleanses.

Thankyou for the upload, I would like to ask some questions please.
I have been taking a PPI (prilosec) for 20yrs and Paxil anitdepressant for the same amount of time.
I have recent years started to have gluten/dairy/soy intolerance and recently ache in my dudenum/small intestine area, Ive been juicing but not sure if this is working for my gut, some say do a paleo type diet with bone broths etc and limited carbs, some say do the GAPS diet, Ive heard of Fodmap and SCD but not sure what to do, I have been trying to reduce the PPI medication slowly but get aches in my duodenum area (peptic ulcer area) I wanted to include cabbage juice in my diet as it has been shown to be good for ulcers but not sure if Im hurting my duodenum/small intestine more by doing this.
The thing is if I adopt the GAPS or some other diet and still have to take acid medication then will it make a difference to my gut problems? Seeing as acid levels will still be low and bacteria can stil overgrow? Unless I give the bad bacteria nothing to eat and starve them somehow even though I may be still taking acid blocking medication.
I was given prilosec 20yrs ago cause of Hiatal hernia, once \i stop I get acid reflux, I am overweight and so I am losing weight now to help this situation.
I was recenty diagnosed with fatty liver and cholseterolosis (gallbladder polyps) and so decided to take the strain off my liver by tapering off these two drugs, tapering off paxil has made me more nervous and prone to stress which in turn will affect inflammation and directly affect the gut lining (Brain-Gut connection).
I was thinking of going on a juice fast but that may hurt my gut even more? A prolonged Waterfast is difficult because Im taking medication, so how the heck to I starve any bd bacteria whilst stil being chained to the PPI meds (if only for the short term)?
I was yoyo'ing between the Mcdougall high starch diet and paleo type diet, raw juicing, gluten free diet, totally confused on how to heal myself, any help guys? Any ideas?
