DBT Quick Tips - Mindfulness of Thoughts

In this DBT Quick Tips video, we'll be covering the mindfulness of thoughts skill. This skill is part of the broader mindfulness set of skills within the Emotion Regulation module. The general goal of this skill is to increase awareness and understanding of your thoughts in the present moment to gain mastery over them. Counter intuitively, the more you lean into your thoughts as a thing to be curious an examine, the less that thought is treated as a fact of life that controls you.

Yonasan’s a graduate of Hebrew University’s School of Social Work and Social Welfare. He pursued post graduate training in a wide array of therapeutic approaches from CBT at The Beck Institute, behavior and emotion focused therapies, John Gottman's marital therapy at the Gottman Institute to various Psychodynamic theories. Before Hebrew University, he studied at Washington University in St. Louis and Drake University majoring in philosophy and ethics. He received his rabbinic ordination from Rav Yitzchak Berkowitz.

Yonasan is a member of the Association For Contextual Behavioral Science. He’s a key member of the clinical team at The Place, the Jerusalem Centre for Emotional Wellbeing. Yonasan is a Dialectical Behavioral Therapist skills trainer and has collaborated with Machon Dvir. He’s also a group leader for the National Educational Alliance for Borderline Personality Disorder Family Connections program.

He specializes in treating anxiety, depression, anger, poor self-esteem, insomnia, autism, eating disorders, psychosis, problems in parenting, sexual dysfunction, and marital conflict. He has an extensive background working with individuals, couples, families, and children in his therapy practice.
