Guess what I found out. Passive effects work still on your off hand. So the lusat staff can be equipped on your left hand while still having the azur staff on your right (or vice versa) and you deal more damage at a faster cast rate. It's crazy. Best of both worlds. They look great with the twinsage crown also. Happy hunting ☺️

I think the biggest difference is that Azur’s staff uses a LOT less fp. Faster casting, less down time drinking fp flasks (not to mention more allocation to crimson flasks) & and all of that only comes at the cost of 8% damage

Your comparison of a +18 reg vs +6 somber staff is irrelevant; you need to compare them at max lvl.

The reason you get the fast staff is not the increased damage, it's the increased mobility and thus better survivability - very few bosses and mobs will just stand there and take the beating like those trolls - most will try and close the gap and then you need speed - hence why swift glintstone shard is still useful late game.

Definitely Azurs staff is the best in any situation because the quicker you cast the quicker you can roll out of danger and not get hit.
Azur all the way

with 99 mind i barely notice the extra fp cost with the azur staff. i got bored with the regal staff and azur looks better lol

So the Azur can kill faster, consume less FP hence can hit more before drinking another flask, may perform better against close ecounter due faster cast. Hmmmm

Here's a tip for players:

Use Lusat's Staff on boss only since that staff is a boss killer (especially with magic enhancement spell). It isn't worth it to use on mobs since the increased FP use.

Use Azur's staff on trash mob, since it fast animations and it's also good.

It depends on the boss, if the boss has high mobility then you might wanna use Azur's staff.

Comparing apples to oranges. Lusat's isn't for spamming. It's the best staff for buffs, like Scholar's Armament. The better mileage you get with buffs justifies the additional MP cost. Lusat's grants the highest potency increase to the amount of additional magic damage you do with your melee attacks.

Now testing this to idle targets is ok, but where azure shines is when your in aggro, for me azure with a frost blade I can sneak in two and gives me the advantage. Less damage but more viable in sticky situations

Casting time is the most important thing for me as a pure mage. I wasnt able to defeat a rune bear or the black blade kindred with any other staff. Azur´s give me the time to quickly cast and role to safety lol

Hold them in either hand and use azures to jave lusats damage buff and azurs speed

Nice work bro on the math and testing behind the staffs showcased. Great info for those with limited recourses wondering which one to level up first.

Basically both staffs are worse compared to other staffs. Carian regel scepter is much better since it not only scales better and does not cost extra FP.

I've been rolling with Lusat's staff and carry more blue flasks. If I run out of FP I pull out a sword (now the Dark Moon Greatsword). Many enemies you can melee so don't need the staff all the time to account for the higher FP usage. I'll slowly upgrade Azure's and see how it goes. Sometimes, some fights, speed really does matter. I'm sure the PvP peeps would agree.

It's the same with the Glintstone spells. You trade off FP and damage, for speed. Using my Meteorite Staff and an FP of 148, I can deal out 3890 damage in 6 seconds with Comet, or 6744 damage in 11 seconds with Great Glintstone Shard, before I need to drink a flask. (Rock Sling of course does more damage but I find it takes too long and the mob is in my face interrupting my spells. When that happens I can still fire off Comet or Great Glintstone Shard.)

Another way to look at it, (using my Meteorite Staff), 6 seconds - 3890 damage with Comet, or 11 seconds - 6744 damage with Great Glintstone Shard, before I need a flask. So many times I got knocked down and died while needing to drink a flask, so what works for me is to have a large FP.

Cast speed for spells is the difference between finishing off the boss and his attack landing killing you

thank you for the vid! the wiki doesnt communicate all of this yet, so finding someone explain it simply on yt is very useful

It is extremely tilting that you arent using the staves at max rank

Personally have been using Lusat’s solely because it’s cool looking, however, Azur’s is honestly solid if you want to sling spells
