I believe that you can honestly say that you failed as a parent if your own child your own flesh and blood believes that you like everyone better than them. Seriously it makes me sad

The problem with Beverly is that being good at analyzing human behaviors doesn't necessarily make you a good psychiatrist
A good psychiatrist wouldn't insult people, ridicule their beliefs, enrage them...etc

The fact that Mary actually reads Sheldon’s theories and pays attention to his work despite not believing in it speaks volumes about both her intelligence and the support she has for her son. It’s honestly really sweet. I also like to believe she understands it both because Sheldon taught her and she was able to understand his nearly indecipherable language because she is also naturally gifted. That’s how a mother’s support should be like, she shows interest and learns to somewhat care for something she didn’t originally because her son does and she loves him.

Beverly should take some notes.

These two talented veteran actresses deserve their own show playing neighbours or in laws again or friends or sisters. It would be a riot, I tell you!

It's clear Sheldon's mom *knows* who Freud is and neatly summarizes his theories. That little bit just slides through.

*"Hey look at that, you both believe in bearded Jewish guys."* One of Penny's best lines 😂😂😂

Okay I am no fan of Mary Cooper but her diss of Freudian psychology is legendary

I have always thought that, even if Sheldon says that he would have love to have a mother like Beverly, I'm glad he didn't, he would have turn out some kind of psychopath or serial killer, detached from humanity and feelings. Leonard is lucky to be a very kind person, even with all the emotional baggage

" She likes everybody better than she likes me! "

This is played for laughs but it's actually sad af.

The thing is, the only person who could ever be happy in Dr. Beverly Hofsteder's vicinity is Sheldon.

"How could someone as enlightened as Sheldon come from someone like you?
Mary: "I don't know, how could someone as kind as Leonard come from someone like you"

At least Sheldon's mother encouraged him, cannot say the same for Leonard's mother. .

I'm as atheist as can be, but I'd still choose Mary Cooper over Dr Hofstadter in a heartbeat.

I met Christine Baranski a few times in the early 90s, before she was really famous. She frequented the place I worked and was always so nice, obviously very different than some of the stern, uppity and snarky characters she has played on screen. Her late husband, who often joined her, was an actor too, a very funny man in his own right. I’ve always admired her work and wish her the best.

That’s the problem with Leonard’s mom.
She follows Sigmund Freud’s hypotheses. Most of them have been disproven.

I've always thought it's funny how Leonards mum is more like Sheldon, and how Sheldons mum is more like Leonard.

It is quite surprising that such a renowned scientist would behave like that. You’d think her advanced education would have given her ways of being more tactful.
