Weird mistake but 2 out of 420 is about .5% not 0.005%. I doubled checked the original paper and it does say 0.005% so maybe I'm missing something here. Guessing it's a typo but a silly mistake and I'm sorry it's in the video 😢. Thanks to everyone who pointed this out and sorry again.

Excellent video. I would argue that the case for tiger sharks being bigger millions of years ago is within reason. The great whites, tigers, and hammerheads in our oceans today are not the same ones in our oceans millions of years ago. The environment is different and animals are always changing because of fraction sized changes in evolution. Keep up the good work.

Great video man. One possible suggestion for a video would be "How Big Can Sleeper Sharks Get?" Greenland and Pacific sleeper sharks can get surprisingly long (up to 7m, allegedly) with truly gargantuan claims of +9m, and you'll even get some people citing videos of sleeper sharks in Megalodon Still Alive videos. They do seem smaller in terms of mass though, at least relative to great white.

I had a friend, he's gone now but he was a survivor of the sinking of the USS Indianapolis and he swore to God that he had seen several Tiger sharks while they were in the water that where well over 20 feet and I've personally seen one that was 22 maybe 23 feet off the coast of Tahiti, I was on my 26 foot sailboat and she was almost as big as my boat she was looking for a snack and I had been cleaning and nice yellowtail so she could smell the trail. She hung around for maybe 25 minutes waiting for scraps .

When talking about large, predatory sharks, people seem to forget about the Greenland Shark, which grows larger than the tiger shark and does approach great white size.

Please continue to do more of the "how big" videos they're very interesting to watch

you forgot about the greenland shark, confirmed 20-23 feet, oldest living shark species too and an apex predator.

My g/f and I were fishing a live bottom area a mile off from a barrier island beach catching Gray trout on stingsilver lures. The water depth was 30 feet and I'd just hooked a small trout and started reeling it up when the drag on my light 12 lb outfit started screeching back down. Realizing something large had made a meal of my trout, tried to strip reel and then my line went slack. I slowly began to reel in just line wondering what had just gotten on then off my hook when suddenly a huge shark came leaping up completely clear of the water and hung for a couple seconds. Clearly it was a huge Tiger, the flat snout, dead eyes and deeply lobed tail were unmistakable. The Tiger dropped back in the water causing my G/ F fishing partner to turn and see what caused the loud splash and my gasp simultaneously. She wasn't fast enough to see fish but the large waves that rocked the boat were enough to get a what da Hell was that outa her. With trembling words I described the 14+ shark that had rolls of fat like inner tubes around its midsection. The Tiger was much bigger around than a 55 gal drum. It could have eaten a person whole. I'd like to hear if anyone has seen a Tiger breach completely out of the water and how did it get the speed to do so in 30 feet water depth. I fished 11 years offshore and this was the only shark I saw over 6 feet. It was unbelievably huge.
In 1964 Walter Maxwell hooked and landed the then World Record Tiger shark from Cherry Grove Fishing pier just N of Myrtle Beach SC. The 13 foot fish weighed 1760 lbs.

I love your videos. I am sad because I've already watched all of them. You explain everything very well and I really like how calm your voice sounds in all of them

I live in Hawaii and we have a newspaper for fishing enthusiasts called Hawaii Fishing News. Now on the cover was an pic. taken from a helicopter of a full-size bull swimming in the Molokai Channel. Close to the bull was a boat that was attempting to help it, I don’t have a clue how but closer we’re 3 Tiger Sharks. The shark closest to the bull which was approximately 3-4 feet away coming in from the lower right side going forward from right rear to left front position they estimated to be around 25-27 feet. The head of the tiger from eye to eye was about a 2/3 off the bull. Now picture that…. That’s crazy huge. I can’t remember exactly when that paper came out but there is a picture some where out there and old time fishermen should remember this. Just to mention they did say that Tiger Sharks don’t usually get this big but they can get way bigger than the normal.

New subscriber here, this series is pretty amazing. Can you please do a video on how big modern elephants can get. I think that would be a great topic to tackle.

I don't know how people could be upset. An 18 foot Tiger Shark is already Great White territory.

Almost got eaten by a Tiger shark yesterday while surfing, east coast Australia. Breached 1m away from me.

Why do they only measure them to the centre of the tail? The top of the tail would add an extra half foot or foot, surely? To me, that is the truer length. It's like measuring yourself and stopping at your ankles. What about the rest?!

People don’t realise the larger size doesn’t suit either the great white shark or tiger shark
