This diver seems to believe her safety is due to her skill and actions. I was raised and lived 25 years on Maui and was an avid free diver and spear fisherman during that time, so have some firsthand experience with sharks to speak from.

If the sharks were actually acting aggressively there’s not a single thing she could do except make a beeline for the boat. They would be arching and torquing their bodies, bolting through the water, changing direction rapidly and covering distance very quickly, and would be acting frantically and very unpredictably. Trust me, you don’t want to be in the water with an aggroing shark, it’s a frightening and humbling experience because it quickly becomes apparent that there is very little you can do should they decide to come at you with serious intent. I don’t think most people appreciate just how fast, agile, indiscriminate and erratic sharks are when agitated, you’d not be able to _”redirect”_ them, and I honestly don’t even know what the point is she’s attempting to communicate in narrating the video as such. That you are responsible for them not attacking? No, they are not attacking you because _they are not attacking you, _ not because you’re pushing their snouts away or swimming underneath them. An aggressive shark is unmistakable in its posturing in the water, and these sharks aren’t remotely predatory in their behavior, they’re simply cruising and curious. She’d quickly be shark food if they decided to hit the switch, and any attempt to redirect would be futile and end with her quickly losing a hand. Honestly this reminds me of Timothy Treadwell saying no cozy, cute cuddly bear would attack him because he spoke to them with a baby voice and had given them names.

These videos with people acting as if they are responsible for their safety and demonstrating such a lack of respect and reverence for these animals are frustrating to watch. This diver may be educated in marine biology and a professional diver, but that doesn’t change the fact that she is _not_ in control. The sharks are, she is in their home, and she’s safe only by their allowances.

As a marine Biologist specializing in Sharks. What you did to push them away was correct but your crew is there to help you and they did nothing. You put your life in danger for the camera. This i find dangerous and in many ways very unwise. You have two Tiger sharks on you. While your dealing with one the other can and most likely will attack. Stop taking risks for views. You're in their home and are the invader. Show some respect and wisdom and know when to use your crew and get out of the water. Views are not worth your life.

Honestly, if those sharks were ACTUALLY after her, there is no way she was gonna redirect them.
People don't realise how massive and heavy these things are.

Too many interactions like this and you’ll end up like the bear guy who thought the bears were his best friend too.

Title should have been " Tiger shark decides not to kill overconfident human"

You're playing Russian roulette with those sharks and one day your luck might run out...

The best way to avoid a shark attack is stay out of the ocean

That almost cost you your hand (or more). That thing is massive, you're lucky that the second one didn't attack.
Quit while you're ahead.

The first commentor was 100% correct in what he was saying and he is someone with experience. Personally, I find this particular diver so irritating and if anything she undermines what sharks are capable of. Anyone out there who follows her videos and went out for a swim one day could be gullible enough to think "yeah it's cool I see a tiger shark coming towards me but I can just gently push it away", rather than getting out of the water quickly as he should.

She is completely undermining the unpredictability of these animals, she's undermining their strength and natural status as predators. No amount of "skill" as you said, will save her. She wants to draw in views and uses catchy titles like "tiger sharks coming at me", but she knows full well they are in calm mode. There's no way she would put herself in the water if she knew they were in attack mode. So she tries to promote herself as some kind of "shark controller" and that she has the SKILLS to prevent a shark attack.

Girl, you wouldn't last 30 seconds with an angry tiger shark. Just like the one in Hurghada, Egypt, where the young Russian chap was essentially eaten alive. Had she been in his place, no amount of SKILL would have saved her.

Humble yourself lady. These are revered and unpredictable PREDATORS of the ocean. Your life is dependent on their temperament.

I find it really funny how a person in the water actually believes to herself that he is able to control a shark.
