That’s not bad. We had races in Alaska where we would start with brand new cables and housings and by the end, they all needed replacing. It got expensive!
P.S., I almost never had to lube my chain because I used chain wax. The way to go for sure!

Heads up to anyone who wants longevity out of their bike; the drivetrain degreaser goes through your derailleur. Ensure the pivot points are clean and get a drop of lube/oil on each one to slow the ovalling out of the pivots.
Some derailleurs use bearings for their pivots, but so far I've not seen a Shimano one without simple axles in holes that oval out and destroy your shifting accuracy after a couple chains.

I use meguiers hybrid ceramic on the garage and heavy hit areas. Mud just slides off. Less soap used. Then I use a dry/wax lube for the chain.

For freewheel/threaded type cogs, do not spray degreaser on to your drivetrain. The degreaser will seep into your bearings and dissolve all the grease.

On both occassions you used a high pressure washer, whilst at the same time you advised to only use a hose. Is'nt this contradictary?

I don’t bother. Just clean and lube the chain and I’m ready for the next ride.

I just realized what a weird but cool front suspension.

Simply go to BP and remove mud from tires with high pressure washer. Then simply rinse with water just like an author. Then use active foam. It degrease everything quite well. Leave it for 2 minutes. Then simply sprinkle bike with water again.
Generally author has good ideas, but dedicated bike degreaser isn't necessary.
If you can, use compressor to blow out water from a chain and casette. Be aware not to contaminate brake rotors.
