I had to get a new OBGYN this year because my old one retired. I asked my cousins and friends who they went to and 5 of them recommended me the same one. Going to a new doctor is always a little scary for me, but I absolutely loved her! I really felt like I could talk to her about anything I was concerned with and she constantly made sure I was okay as she was examining me. I loved my old OB, but I think I like this new one more. I definitely recommend asking friends/family who they go to. It really helps if it's your first time going or if you're switching doctors. I would totally trust you if I lived nearby.

Thank you, respect and trust is so important and never feeling shamed… I got kicked out of my first obgyn office because ONE of the docs) the owner is male and I was not comfortable seeing him for exams. (Though I would have understood in an emergency; and told them so, they didn’t care.) so at 16 weeks I’m looking again…

I love my OBGYN’s office. You and Dr. Allison Rogers helped me figure out what I like in a doctor!

I recently found out the hard way that a key question you should ask of a potential OB is what their billing practices are. Apparently, in the US at least, it’s becoming increasingly common for practices to require you to start paying for your delivery up to 4-5 months before you’re due. Then if you decide you want to switch providers (or god forbid you miscarry and don’t even have the delivery you’ve already paid for), it’s really hard to get your money back. Shouldn’t be something you have to think about but that’s US healthcare for you.

Ooooh!!! That's so cute that you refer to your younger inexperienced self as a baby bird/chickadee!

Hello @Dr. Jennifer- Great to see your advice on "call your OB-GYN and Delivery unit" to learn more about great care. Could you please specify how to approach this unit if I stay in one city for instance Virginia.

How about tips for finding any OBGYN that can see me within 2 weeks. There isn't any! Waiting list is 8 months out! If you're pregnant, I am not, you can get care more easily. But for us women who are older and need care, there's none! I had to go to Urgent Care and the care I got there was bad. They wouldn't do a pelvic exam. Medical care for women in the US is getting stupid.

Ok got one for you: on a blind date a coffee barista says-“I hope we can skip the coffee, I’m around it all day, stick my hands in it, smell coffee all day…” to which her date replies-“ok good, I hope you’ll understand when I tell you that I’m an OBGYN…”

I see an OBGYN for PCOS, I have only one ovary and a fluid filled fallopian tube. I get an ultrasound every year to make sure my ovary at the very least looks okay and doesn’t have any cysts. That and I really would like to have kids. But my doctor told me that if I didn’t get a Pap Smear then there was no reason to monitor anymore. I didn’t feel this was right. Can you elaborate? @Dr.JenniferLincon
