Fun fact, in one of the stories in the Cthulhu Mythos, they actually drop a nuclear bomb on R'lyeh. All it does is piss Cthulhu off.

Scary thing about Cthulhu is that he's not only sentient, but supposed to be as much above humans as humanity is above animals. The entirety of human history is, to his perception, analogous to a vermin infestation that got out of hand while he took a nap; he will deal with it when he wakes up, and humanity will break before him like cockroaches when the lights turn on.

HOLY HELL!!! I could not imagine being underwater in a submarine or a skydiver and seeing huge, gigantic, and monstrous Cthulhu with your own two goggled eyeballs!
