Okay, just a quick note, Azathoth doesn't "rule" over anything. Yes, his dream is the core of our universe, but he is as ignorant to this fact as we are when we dream about something. The few times he actually interacts with anything is when part of him is summoned, and it is but a fraction of his power.

I love the idea of Azathoth so much. What if God exists, but he's this blind, uncaring, incomprehensible mass of chaos instead of a benevolent father figure? It's terrifying. He is the epitome of cosmic horror IMO, like the logical conclusion of the whole genre.

It's kind of a ridiculous question. It would be like someone in your dream trying to destroy the entire universe of the waking world... you wake up and they just cease to exist. That being said there was something i read somewhere about Cthulhu surviving Azathoth waking... somehow... maybe at that point.... still a ridiculous question.

Ygo Sototh is Cthullus Grandfather and also the Most powerful God in Lovecrafts Canon. Why? Well he is the entire setting combined, even Arzatoth is part of him. Also he is, as only God in all story's, said to be onmipotent ("Thru the Gates of the Silver Key" if I'm not mistaken)

There is no mention of azathoth creating all of reality because of his dream. In fact he was put to sleep before which implies that reality isn’t made by him dreaming because how could someone put him to sleep without existing. The real strongest being is Yog Sototh who is the H.P Lovecraft universe in its entirety, including Azathoth
