The future is getting more and more terrifying. Suddenly the movie Terminator doesn't look so far fetched.

I would totally Easter egg some Arnold lines into those current military robots, some RoboCop ones too

A suggestion for a future episode: IBM Mainframes - the most complicated single machines created by mankind and how most of the world's critical IT functions still run on them.

To comment on the San Fran robot situation, It's not nearly as nefarious as portrayed, It just allows them to use a robot in a situation where it'd be far too dangerous to send a human in. The Texans did something similar years prior. A man had barricaded himself in a hallway which would have forced the cops into a choke point, so they decided to strap a bomb to a robot and detonate it on the other side of the wall, killing the man. The police have things significantly more dangerous at their disposal than a very expensive robot that can be stopped with small arms fire.

The question is, can you use them to release poisonous alien centipedes in a senator's bedroom...

You and your team have one heck of a channel. Whenever I want understandable technical info delivered by a man that makes it fun to be scared and disturbed...well Simon, you are the first person that comes to mind! 🖖

Its worrying when the 'model flying machines' available could be married to face recognition on your mobile phone to make a hunter drone

The San Fran robot is over hyped; we already used a robot to kill an active shooter in Dallas in 2016, and the San Fran robot won't be autonomous. I would recommend watching Donut Operator here on YouTube for more information.

At 5:10, in the picture of the “stop killer robots” crowd, stood to the left (white beard/hair w/ suit) is Dr Noel Sharkey. Former judge on Robot Wars (uk) lmao

Before AI goes much further and definitely before giving it control of drones of any form humanity needs to agree on some laws of robotics which would form the bases for algorithm creation. The science fiction writer Asimorf (I Robot and that series) explores how this could work. For the safety of humanity, the idea of fundamental laws limiting what Robots can do is essential.
