This footage shows a demonstration where a new RAF 'Jackal' drone fires missile at a target. The missile can be seen launching out the new drone as it flies above the ground.

The JACKAL drone capability has been designed and developed by experts from UK-based Flyby Technology, with Turkish partners FlyBVLOS Technology and Maxwell Innovations providing design engineering and prototyping expertise, to fill a recently discovered gap in modern combat operations.

As a Vertical Take Off and Landing (VTOL) platform, JACKAL is designed to satisfy a number of roles, including Battlefield Air Interdiction, Close Air Support, engaging helicopters in flight and killing tanks, to denying the use of runways and roads.

The trial - sponsored by the Rapid Capabilities Office (RCO) of the Royal Air Force – involved teams from Flyby and the technology giant Thales which also manufactures the LMM.

I like that they secured it with the chain. God knows what could happen if that thing went free.

Quite the payload for a small drone, nice design with the doubled rotors.

When drones and drone culture was relatively new, there was a video that came out where a guy attached a gun to a drone. He flew the drone and fired the gun to test it in a video. It caused quite a ruckus and concern in the internet. Now we have this on video and everyone's "that's amazing".

1) The RAF does not use this drone, this was a test. The person who made this article probably confused it with the "Jackal" lightweight armoured car used by the RAF for rapid paratroop deployment.

2) The Jackal Drone is made and designed by FlyBVLOS in Turkey (which is the current world leader in combat drones). The missiles are, however, British and if I'm not mistaken the UK-based company "Flyby Technology" essentially purchased the Jackal from Turkey and re configured it to be able to fire the missiles seen here.

The way it managed to stay level during that launch for it it being a relatively large payload for the size of the craft is really impressive and scary

This is a Turkish Drone FlyBVLOS Technology and Maxwell Innovations (Turkish Company) Good to see the UK and Turkiye collaborate in drone and aircraft engine technologies.

Looks like it has attachment points for outboard wings or weapon pods, as well as turbine/fan propulsion for higher speed than the rotors alone provide. This thing is going to be badass.

I love how it's shackled to the ground like a disobedient dragon.

Just make sure it includes a loudspeaker to scare the enemy into submission with that song.

Awesome to see a bit of 'our own' tech being developed, assuming it is. I would not want to be chased by one of these! edit: I always think how much my grandad would be astounded by this tech. He was a WWII spitfire/hurricane etc aircraft technician. He was born in 1921. I was born in 1987. My grandad owned the Sega/Atari/Nintendo and the playstation 1. How many people would go to their grandad's to play playstation games? Damn I miss him.

This is so cool, and yet so scary at the same time. Looks like Skynet is getting gradually closer 😅

The Turkish made British drone. Turkish Fly BVLOS Technology introduces an armed version of the Jackal UAV, that it has developed entirely with equity capital in Turkey and exported to the UK on April 25, 2022.

As shown, very useful for firing missiles into shower curtains.

Seriously, a modern weapon for modern warfare.
