If Ukraine and Russia would be two fighters, Ukraine would be fighting with one hand tied behind their back. It's crazy to "limit" the victim of a war to just their borders and not allowing them to cross the borders of their enemy that's attacking them.

I'm no military expert, but It looks like it was intended to sow chaos on the Russian military side. The war had become a slow, relentless grind, which Putin saw as ultimately in his favor. This causes most Russian military plans to be tossed. It's a bold, creative move by Ukraine that has already begun succeeding.

Vlad, you have nailed the attitude of the Russian population.
The Russian population actively choose to ignore the reality of the Kremlin’s actions.
No matter what destruction Ukraine inflicts on the regions outside of the Moscow Ring Road, the population will be increasingly indifferent.
