With plenty of spare time at the moment, I have finally had a moment to put together a steam at speed compilation, so sit back and enjoy these mainline monsters let off the leash in Southern England, operating upto the current permitted 75mph limit.
Featuring 9 Locomotives:
SR West Country No.34046 'Braunton'
SR Battle of Britain No.34067 'Tangmere'
SR Merchant Navy No.35018 'British India Line'
SR Merchant Navy No.35028 'Clan Line'
LNER A4 No.60009 'Union of South Africa'
LMS Royal Scot No.46115 'Scots Guardsman'
LMS Jubilee No. 45699 'Galatea'
LMS Black 5 No.45212
BR 7MT No.70013 'Oliver Cromwell'

Footage taken between 2009 - 2019

Foot note:
Diesel locomotives "Tail Gunner"
The use of Diesel locomotives on some tours is because of operational reasons. Some of the tours run to destinations with no turning facilities, so the diesel hauls the train to a location where the steam loco can take over again. They are also used for train heating, assistance on steep gradients(especially during leaf fall season)and are a great help if any problems arise with the steam loco.
Most Diesels used are interesting machines in their own right too, with most of then now over 50 years old, some even 60 years old now.

I wish so badly that we did this in the U.S. these engines look so serious on the main line.. they have the dignity of going fast as they're meant to. That doesn't happen here.

the whistles echoing, the beautiful white smoke, with such speed, hits me in the chest, my respects from the United States

Takes me back to my trainspotting days in the 60s when they used to hit 100mph through Tamworth, Basingstoke and Swindon. Great memories.❤

It's really awesome seeing steam locomotives still being used to this day the British definitely has pushed steam technology over its limits to get up to such speeds

When I was a kid, about 9 or 10 maybe, I used to go to a bridge with my pals. A straight one with a sort of metal grid floor. We would stand on it and wait for the express to sweep past at full speed. Incredibly exiting to see these monsters roaring towards you and then pass a few feet beneath you. A blast of noise, smoke, steam, heat, and smell. Incredible memory and sadly one that kids today will never experience.

Its not hard to understand why there were so many train spotters years ago in the golden age of steam! Wow...awesome footage.

Amusing to see people already 6 feet away from the edge instinctively step back even further when the beast approaches. Lovely stuff!

There’s something really special about the whistle as they barrel through these stations.
Loudly announcing, “Hey! I’m not stopping!!”

I have grown up around steam and it humbles this 37 year old to see steam engines earning their keep. They are working machines after all. The very intention of their being is being forfilled and that fills me with pride. I still maintain they are alive. They are a living breathing thing and I will never get bored of that.

as a child i lived near a train station, and i remember the sound of that trains and lokomotives well. at 03:16 this matches my rememberence best. you could hear the lokomotoves first, with their fast "beat", only later the wheels and cars are audible. i was always fasinated by the sound of the lokomotives....

I actually had tears in my eyes watching bits of this. The power, such raw power.

I'm old enough to remember when steam trains were the only form of motive power in the UK ! This excellent video brought back so many memories - cheers for that. 😎

Bombay Howrah mail used to reach Jabalpur at about 12 noon & it's engine had an unique sound whistle which was so very musical to ears! And punctual! Thanks for taking to the world of nostalgic memories of childhood.

I'm crying it's so elegant so beautiful. You can never find a diesel that makes you feel this way.

I loved this video. Something about British trains that impress me in several ways. Also, it might be because the trips are relatively short and one does not become bored. Additionally, well modulated voices giving information over station loud speakers is quite impressive.

That is exactly what I am talking about! Steam at speed, not pootling about like some others put in their videos. This is brilliant!
