I'm 74 and was there at 20 yrs old on the day they played. This was my favorite performance and I come back to it here at least once a month to re-experience the magic.

Whole band is batttling quantum realities but the drummer is keeping the portal open.

Can't imagine the sheer pleasure tripping on some psychedelic and being perfectly in sync with your bandmates at a festival like woodstock. That's some godly level human experience.

One of the greatest live performances ever....probably the best energy in that legendary concert.

I was there when Santana took the stage, approx. 2:00 pm on Sat. August 16, 1969. I'm sure most of the audience, including me, were hearing them for the first time. Our viewing position was close enough to see facial features but we didn't know their names. I really don't remember their set until "Soul Sacrifice" which they played last. By then, the crowd was really into it and standing. The version you're watching here has been edited from the live version that ran about 10.00 minutes. Michael Shrieve's drum solo is much longer. Their latin-infused style was unusual compared to what was popular at the time but Santana won us over. I was just 18 and came primarily to see Hendrix. By the time he played early Monday morning we had returned home to Connecticut. For all those there, Woodstock was a happy moment in time, shared with strangers you'd never see again. I remember the music, this performance most of all.

I was at Woodstock. I'm 71 years old now. Santana is still as great as they were then. I love it

This is arguably one of the best live performances by a rock band in America. Santana was unknown outside of the San Francisco Bay Area until Woodstock. The truly multicultural and racial makeup, combined with Latin, rock, and soul is unprecedented in music.

Rare for a single performance to turn someone from a nobody into an absolute star... Santana deserved it.

This song may possibly be the coolest moment in time on earth.

This comment section is full of folks in their 70s that went to Woodstock, and came back to relive the performance of a lifetime. And I love it!

This is literally one of, if not the best live performances in the history of rock and Roll. FUCKING

This is by far the most extraordinary rock+latin+afro music blend of all times, playing by off the charts musicians. Kudos to all of them!!!

Drummer is unreal - having the musical equivalent of a near death think he was viewing the entire sequence of events from above his body....lol. And the guy was 19! The entire performance, by the band, is supernatural and seriously spiritual. Whether or not anybody was on drugs....who the hell cares? That would be their business. I'm just grateful that, once upon a time, this happened.

Santana is a Renaissance man. A True Virtuoso in all realms of life, and a master of the guitar.
