I've replaced the Palomar with a modified San Diego Jam knot it's stronger and much faster to tie. I would also toss a none slip loop knot in the mix.

Easier way to tie snell knot by wrapping loop over the point and bend of hook then pull tag to tighten then cut tag off or tag can be left on and used for your hair rig

Maybe I've been tying it wrong but my albright knot has been coming undone. The fluoro slides right threw the knot and I lose everything. I have 25lb super slick V2 braid and tying 12lb fluoro. Any suggestions?

I've definitely had a palomar knot fail on me. Was the knot and not a break.

I swear I have never mastered the snell knot!! I can do everything else but my snells are hit or miss!! One of my big brother's has never understood why lol

You are wrong about the Palomar knot. The knot will fail if the two lines are not kept parallel to each other (i.e. they cross each other). This is especially true for Fluro.

I dont see a difference in hook up ratio between palomar and snell knot. I see more stress in the line from a snell knot than a palomar. When it comes down to it palomar is still the go to knot.
