Prison labor should benefit tax payers, not private entities.

Reduce the taxpayer's burden instead of lining the pockets of immoral companies!

I firmly believe every prison should be a manufacturing facility of some kind that benefits the country and funds the prison 100%

Absolutely fair!! What's not fair is child labor. This is the best thing for inmates. It keeps them busy, making at least SOME money.

I liked when they had animal jobs for prisoners with really good track records. Training wild mustangs, or training dogs no one wanted in kill shelters. They had trainers who trained them in a profession they could continue on the outside and no one could stop them from making their own business out of it if they wanted.
I really liked that. Give these guys a skill set and a chance at a life where they won't go back to prison. ❤

I don't mind prison labor being used as cheap labor as much as I mind tax dollars going to fund these prisons that could obviously be self funded.

They should be self sufficient don't need our tax money

It's fair. Inmates cost $30, 000.00 to $50, 000.00 a year to house. They ahould contribute something.

If prisons could be funded this way instead of taxpayers money surely that’s a win, and depending on what work / labour inmates do could go towards training toward employment when released possibly lowering reoffending

This is a great program. They don’t need to worry about 100$ a month, they need to get in the habit of being a useful person for their families.

I think the company making money on the inmates labour should be donating some proceeds to victims.

Yes. Voluntary employment. "Working off their debt to society" and it keeps them positive and productive. Great program.

Brother my GrandFather would call this a two headed snake. The last two years on my twenty year bid I worked building furniture for the S.C.D.C.. WE were paid 75. Bucks a month and we were glad to get it. The state made millions so the devil got his due!!! Thanks for this update on Convicts making a few survival bucks. Keep up on the great work you do. Joe

This is why we need to get rid of privatized correctional companies

Yes its fair. The prisoners should have to pay for their housing, clothes, food, computer tablets, anything else that they get. If there's anything left over then give it to them. Tax payer's shouldn't have to pay for them to live. They should all have to work to pay their own way.

I think its a great idea to teach the prisoners a new trade and keeping them occupied and putting some money on there books to be able to buy stuff is great, on the other hand I would really love to see the profits being used to rehabilitation prisoners and help to set them up for success when they have been released back into society after they have served there time 👍

Hell yeah its fair. As long as the profits go towards funding the prisons.
