One of many reasons as to why our incarceration rate is so high in America... slavery really never ended

Cal fire uses inmate labor, but typically doesn’t hire former inmates.

What happens if the inmate can’t do the types of jobs that are needed, such as labor where you’d have to be on your feet for hours on end (I.e., kitchen or custodial work) due to pain issues that are bad but not bad enough to qualify them as being disabled? That’s what I was always scared of when I was still in and out of jail. I have terrible back pain and can’t be on my feet for more than a few minutes and have to work in an office (which I know desk jobs are few and far between in prison). So, would I just be expected to suffer through it or would I end up in solitary for extended periods of time? I’ve always wondered that. I’m clean now and I’m working as a drug counselor and I’m no longer involved in any criminal behavior but it’s been a long road to recovery, that’s for damn sure.

How does that work for disabled prisoners?

Ngl bro, rapists, murderers, pedophiles should all be put down. Everyone else should be put on rehabilitation program by a medical/psychiatric professional, moved to work detail with below minimum wage pay, then into college/work credit.
