Hands down one of greatest trilogies ever. Very underrated games as well.

I love how in the group photo of Raptor Team, Nomad is totally masked. Still a faceless protagonist :P

Seeing how well done this ending is made me realize that Crysis was actually a really decent trilogy that ended on a satisfying note. I mean, the first game was despite its issues ahead of its time, the second game took a different approach but it still worked out and the third game managed to get back on track. I mean, we had a bossfight that was not a QTE in a Shooter series from the late 2000s/early 2010s. I really respect this series.

The suit can become anything it wants too, says that lady. So when Prophet fell from space, the outer layer of the suit was destroyed(watch it burn up). Upon impact and contact with the water on the surface, the suit began to rebuild itself. The suit has a relationship with one person, Barnes, so it naturally reforms it's outer layers to look like him. So even though the suit looks like him, get this, Alcatraz is still inside there. Alcatraz is just a host. Practically dead. The suit needs real muscles, real tissue, a real human body to work properly. That's all Alcatraz is. A body. His mind is gone and has been replaced with the suits mind- I mean Barnes' mind. So basically, Alcatraz is dead inside of a suit that thinks its Prophet so much so that it literally took his physical form and uses his mind to make decisions. The real Laurence Barnes is dead in New York. Only a replica remains. A super human replica, of course.

“IT WAS NEVER JUST ABOUT THE SUIT.” That hit deep when you consider their whole journey throughout the 3 games

Reading the books made this ending so much better especially after you find out what happens to Alcatraz. Prophet visits Alcatraz mother and she instantly recognizes him as not his son even tho he’s invisible that he’s not his and then at the end when they have a conversation in their mind where Alcatraz finds out that he could’ve taken his body back at any time if he really wanted it. Decides his part in the war is over snd his final line is “they called me Alcatraz. Remember me.” Prophet then wakes up in front of Alcatraz dads grave.

The ending really speaks to me. Laurence Barnes lost everything. He lost a lot of important years, his mental state, his mates, Raptor Team, the opportunity to experience good things in life, like love, family, adventure, his body, and his life. He sacrificed everything to protect the people of the world. And what did he get in the end? An endless, meaningless life at the coast of Ling Shan. I'm sorry to say, but the world didn't do him justice. The world sucks. He deserved so much better.

The first minute is where you’ll find the greatest meaning of Crysis.

Since the beginning of the monologue, Prophet insist on defining himself as a machine, the result of the sacrifices of a man who chose to ascend in order to protect Earth, losing his humanity in the process.
However, when everything seems over, when the chips are down, a part of his memory shakes him, inspires him and wakes him up.
Those voices are not calling the machine, never once is “Prophet” called. The voices all speak to Laurence Barnes.
And when Earth seems doomed, they ask him to “Hold on”. When he thinks that the “machine has failed”, then you need to go beyond, because “It was never just about the suit”.
In fact, as he realizes later on, it wasn’t the machine who saved the world all those times. It wasn’t the technology that moved the suit.
It was “something that the Cephs will never have or understand”.
It was the strong and powerful heart of a human being. And that’s our greatest strength.
Beautiful.

Always loved how much more character-driven Crysis 3's story was

Even the music reflects this. Compared to the superhero-like theme of C2, the music in C3 has a noticeably sadder tone
