we can't express enough how lucky we were, especially when we found out many of friends did not... climate change is already here, anyone who doesn't believe in it is a clown.

Charles at 10:44/10:45 you hit a crucial topic for future generations that have to live with this kind of environment. You are absolutely right! As a teacher and Psychologist this topic I am always trying to teach about. Climate change/global warming its all real! I am glad to know y'all are safe and sound.

stay safe charles and allie! I'm up in safety harbor, it's wild seeing the damage caused to our small sub of clearwater, our local pier got completely wiped away, and tons and tons of houses damaged, neighbors are doing a great job helping each other and using the resources we're given

I am so glad you guys are ok. You are so right Char. Can't deny it exists. So scary. We are in Georgia. My husband had been hiking. Came off the trail the day before and was staying at a campground and was stranded for two days. Took him 10 hours to get from Tennessee to North Georgia. I feel so bad being grateful when there is so much hurt. It doesn't seem possible that this has happened. Much love from Georgia.

I am so glad you all are alright. I never thought you guys were doing a 'woe is me' thing. You guys are amazing and always willing to give. Thank you guys so much for uploading. I was really worried. The devastation that Helene left behind is so heartbreaking.

I am so so glad you all made it safely through the storm! I actually know exactly what you mean about feeling awkward for feeling so lucky to not be as affected as your neighbors. All I've been able to do the last few days is scroll the internet and look at pictures and videos from other areas in East TN, and then less than 100 miles away is the devastation in Western NC. We had SO much rain in the Appalachians prior to the hurricane even coming that what the hurricane added across NC was catastrophic. It may take months to years to be able to travel between Knoxville and Asheville again. But the outpouring of love and need to donate has been so wonderful up here! We have no shortage of the volunteer spirit and we'll keep taking care of our friends and neighbors.

It is so bad down in Appalachia. People do not realize how bad it is the news is not able to get to some of the more off the beaten path places. It is absolutely devastated. Major land routes for shipping/interstate travel/local travel completely gone.

I've been thinking & praying for you all. I live on the UK coast right by the Irish sea & although we're battered by winds & some storm surges, it's nothing compared to the storm surges you get during hurricane season. And we're very lucky that on the rare occasion people lose power, it's restored extremely quickly. Our risk is mostly during the storm due to flying debris & falling trees, then we get to move on. I'm praying for you all. I'm so glad you & your family are OK. Thank you for posting. I know I'm not the only person who has been worried about you.
Edit: I can't find the info to donate. Any chance you could put it on, please? I can only donate a little, but I know others will donate too.

I cannot even come close to understanding how it would feel to go thru something like that but then to survive it and others didn’t ??! Like wow what a horrible thing to go thru. I hope people donate and help in any way. ❤

I'm so proud of my 77 Vietnam veteran fil who said no I'm not playing prior to people suffering and went to town helping people prepare in the path. I'm so inspired by the group of people who have came together and helped. I'm so happy to have a bad ash fil

I've been to Treasure Island a few times on vacation and my aunt has been going there every year for decades. It's one of my favorite spots on this earth and to see all the destruction over there is just heartbreaking. The amounts of sand everywhere, I've never seen anything like it. My heart goes out to everyone who was affected. I'm glad you guys are okay. Love from Germany.

I live in Nashville Ga. About 70 miles from landfall and we got hit really hard. The eye came right over us. So much damage in our little town but nothing like in the mountains. Prays for everyone.

I’m so glad you are okay. No need to feel badly about making it through the hurricane safely. She was a beast. Take good care of yourselves.❤

I live in Northeastern Kentucky, and I have never seen our area, or anywhere near here, affected like we were from this hurricane. I work as a 911 Dispatcher & was working when it hit, and my goodness was it crazy. I work alone, and my director had to call someone in early to help. Thankfully, there was no major damage to homes, just mostly trees down and trees taking down electric lines. There are some who are still without electric even now. Just 30 minutes northeast of us, in Scioto County, Ohio, there was a lot of flooding resulting in a lot of damage to homes and business, and vehicles.
We usually would get whatever was left of a hurricane, but nothing as bad as we did with Helene. My heart and prayers go to everyone who was affected even worse. Especially those who have lost their lives and are still unaccounted for.
