Reminds me of the WWII b0mbing shelters here in the UK, built for sheltering local residents when the Germans let loose every night across the country. Serve an important purpose, but still sends a shiver down your spine.

ALL trailer parks should have at least one of these!! It should be a law!! As someone who lives in a trailer park, too far away from my family to quickly get to their houses, I am terrified of tornadoes! Especially when I have to go to work knowing there's bad weather coming, because I have to leave my husband and son at home, and we only have one car! I wish, so much, that we had a shelter like this!! It should be made law, and all trailer parks should be mandated to come into compliance, no matter how long ago they were built. But the government won't spend the money. Nor will landlords. And people bitch when their rent goes up. Rightfully, usually, ofc. But I would gladly pay a rent increase, if I knew the increase was being used to pay for the construction of a shelter like this. (And if they're worried about people being stuck in there without supplies, they can just put it in the lease that it's the tenants' responsibility to being a storm kit with them.) That this safeguarding isn't required is just tragic, and infuriating.

ETA: They could also put a clause in the lease that they're not responsible for injuries, and that anyone caught using the shelter for nefarious purposes will be prosecuted/evicted.

Some people still complain about comfort in these shelters bjt theres no need for comfort when it's for survival and it only last a few minutes

That's a really nice one too. Good on the RV park for installing such a big one, most parks don't.

I live in Oklahoma in the tornado shelters are a lot smaller. However it is pretty cool that they have larger ones

What a shelter. I would agree mobile home communities should have one if there was an ordinance in the county the Mobile home community is in 10 feet under the ground at minimum? To fit 60 Residents at least? I like the ladies mowhawk!

I’ve seen one of these! Down in Mississippi (i think.) it wasn’t underground though. We didn’t go inside it but it was still cool.

Born and raised in rural tornado alley, where no matter where you are in the county.. you’re never more than a couple miles to the closest tornado shelter. Each small town in the county has public shelters, my daughters public school also has a “safe room” that acts as another public tornado shelter outside of school hours and I’ve NEVER had the thought cross my mind that anyone would be excited to see a tornado shelter or even that people have NEVER seen one. 🙃🙃 neat.
