It's nice to see a review that doesn't outright shit on the game. Most of the reviews I've seen are OG fanbois that just CANNOT let go of the past and just let themselves enjoy the game

I just got it 50% off on steam. For a second I was regretting my buy until you said it’s ok to wait for a sale.

As an avid final fantasy fan who lost large chunks of his life to the original version and a fairly large chunk with this version I agree, the game is great, but its not the complete package. the extensions to characters backstories did make up for this some but I am very much looking forward to having the complete trilogy as one package.

1:14 dude can destroy massive machines and slay monsters with that sword. He can also climb stuff and ride on top of trains. But….somehow a fence with some tape is an impassable obstacle. Video game logic. 😂😂

i kinda liked the game being solely focused on midgar as to me it felt like there wasnt enough of it in the original game

Really well made good sir! I'm just wondering how you have Xbox key prompts, I'm using a series x controller but still don't get them :/

Speaking to your last point about how the game ends at point 7 of 30, while you go to many more locations in the OG FF7, the game’s script plot wise actually is heavily front loaded in the midgar section, which houses about a third of all the dialogue in the game. How they end up pacing the next two titles is up in the air, but I don’t think where the game ends compared to the original is as much of an issue as you may think it is (at least right now, since the other two games could always end up not going through everything thoroughly enough)

Is it good price 60 for both intergrade and rebirth?

Warning: SPOILERS

I genuinely don't understand why people think this isn't a complete game. When you think about the lore, it makes more sense to make it a somewhat episodic experience. This isn't just a remake but also a sequel to the original game. They're alternating the story by defeating the whispers, who are trying to prevent them from making different decisions and actions than they made in the original timeline.
Either this means we're gonna get to make choices, like in Life Is Strange, or the story is going to be much different than the original. And based on how players review each game, Square Enix will take the feedback and make the next game better in some way. Rebirth is going to be an open world experience, which that was one of the main criticisms of FF7R was that its not open world like the original.

If they took everything from the original game, and squeeze it all into one or two discs and call it good, not only would it take literally years because the story is so long, it would be over 300+ gigabytes which is insane. It wouldn't do this game justice. I'm glad they separated it into longer parts and putting time into the quality of the games. This is a complete game, its just not the full story. Just like any game series with sequels.

The combat was fine the problem is the ai targeting only the person you control. Its super annoying and forces playstyles and forces you to use the quick menu instead of being able to actually enjoy the character you want.

Excellent and fun review. Sub earned!

I did indeed get this game on PC on a steam sale. :)

Was well worth the wait jmho. The game was a gorgeous homage to the original and I went in knowing there would be 2 more parts. Like watching LotRs, I didn’t mind it being 1/3 of a complete story/game because i have confidence the rest will be made.

Thank you. I've been postponed to buy this game. 😅

I would easily pay 70usd for each of the 3 games. This isnt a third of a game. The og was 3 disks. The point was to make this one 3 games and flesh out argueably the best rpg in history.

God of war does this with its looting too. I spend more time exploring an area to the best of my ability at that point in the game before continuing on whatever quest I’m on. Extremely time consuming.

Thank you for the review Lone Wolf, having just finished Baldurs Gate 3 I needed a new game and this is on sale at the moment for half off so I pulled the trigger. Goof review, very well done, informative, helpful d entertaining. I'll be checking out your channel further. And yes, sub. Thanks!

Subscribed, really enjoyed the video. This channel deserves more subs!!! I've only played and finished the remake once, but I feel Square Enix just wanted to pad out the old balance sheet by splitting the game up into three bits. I'm a big fan of the original game and I've always seen the Midgar section as a tutorial section, You defeat ShinRa and then you learn about the true enemy of the game. Anyways, just wanted to say I really enjoyed the video.

the point that final fantasy remake was only 1/3rd of a game is not a bad point in my opinion square enix was up front saying this was part 1 of 3 parts so that should not have ben a surprise to anyone that bought or will buy final fantasy 7 remake. second there is no such thing as a perfect game. some people loved the game some did not but overall i thought it was a good game so much so i bought it 4 times over the years. one time unfortunately was on epic games store i learned my lesson and re bought it on steam for 30 percent off with part 2 prerecorded for January 2025
