I don't like flowers for any occasion unless they're alive so I can plant them. So I never get flowers lol. I love spa services. I used to have a membership but I had to stop with all the inflation.

As a true capitalist, I believe Valentines Day generates much needed revenue, especially in a down economy. It puts a smile on faces when getting a card or some flowers, maybe some chocolate, too. This means flower growers, card companies, and chocolate factories can keep people employed. That also creates taxable income, again ‘revenue’. It’s not a bad thing. And for those who cannot afford to buy these things, it gives opportunities to make paper flowers or homemade cards. A small chocolate bar is still around $1. Thoughtfulness counts. If my husband decided not to celebrate the holiday and did nothing would offend me. OBTW, I don’t mind celebrating it the day after to get chocolate at 1/2 price, lol!
