Why I'm Buying The Nintendo 3DS In 2021

The Nintendo 3DS had a solid run with a ton of good games, but now that the Switch is out Nintendo's last gen handheld is being phased out with Nintendo no longer doing repairs for it. With how often these systems would get broken and how difficult they could be to repair, I think now is a good time to start build up the collection before it becomes harder to find.

Something that is never talked about is the 3d camera. I took some videos and photos years back, just saw my 3ds sitting and remembered. My mom passed away last year seeing a 3d image of her...its different from a normal photo or video. Deeper meaning to it. I can't describe it. Almost like looking back in time with a foggy lens.
Imo worth picking up a 3ds just for that.

The 3DS is amazing, 20 years ago I remember thinking the SP was the greatest handheld ever. When the 3DS came along it was everything I didn't know I wanted in a handheld, it tucks away and could hold tons of games.. I'm so grateful for it and in my opinion, it is the greatest handheld.

I still play my New 3DS XL daily because I work overnight security and don't want my Switch to get stolen or broken.

I love the 3ds still. It has so much personality that the switch doesn't.

3DS did so much right. I bought every iteration and sold the previous and always felt justified by the improvements. Used regular SD cards, had a great RPG collection, I've bought so many digital games my whole library travelled with me in flights. I love my 3DS XL New just like I love my DS XL. Still feels great in hand.

I still nerd out a little at the 3D on the 3DS. It never got old for me.

"Start your collection now before the prices go up." - Too late. I missed out on getting the SNES 3DS XL deal of a lifetime, Amazon was selling them for $150. I kick myself in butt every time I see them selling on eBay. Lesson learned - NEVER getting into loans, and NEVER lend friends or family money.

"before the prices start going up" Nah they started going up last year. Which has been a thorn in my side cause there's a lot of games I want, but the physicals are impossible to get a at a reasonable price.

Funny, recently I was digging through the draws and found my old 3DS and charged it up and started playing it again. The feeling of old times came to me and having more fun on it then my Switch.

I'm glad I picked mine up years ago, prices today are insane, but having 12-systems-in-one device is amazing. 3ds has a lot of great titles in its library and backwards compatibility only increases that usability. The day my 3ds breaks will be a sad day.

Before the 3ds started getting expensive, I bought the Mario and Luigi dream team 3ds xl in great condition for 90 bucks. It now goes for around 300

Your video along with CameronAllOneWord and Nintendo Life is the reason I started collecting physical games. I'm primarily a digital collector, but when I had to do a system transfer, I lost all my save data. It wasn't much as I just started playing games- probably about an hour of playtime for each title- but then it hit me. If my 3DS breaks and I do another system transfer, I would have a lot more to lose. If it broke after the eShop shut down, I wouldn't even be able to redownload my games.

And so I started buying physical. Games I couldn't bare to lose. Games where I feel better knowing my progress is on a physical cart. Even now, only 10 months later I'm seeing prices go up. Thankfully, I heeded your advice. I got most of my wishlist secured. And I did it before the bump!
