TikTok ban is APPROVED

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit on Friday sided with the Justice Department, which argued that the U.S. government has the authority to ban TikTok based on the national security risk that the Chinese government could pressure TikTok to expose Americans’ data or influence what they see. TikTok’s parent, ByteDance, is based in China.

Genuine question, what’s stopping a Chinese owned company from just buying the huge amount of personal data being traded around our country every day *anyways?* Like, all the data TikTok collects is already being collected by other companies, and is already being sold en masse to anyone who wants it, without any oversight on who’s buying it, so why can’t China, or Russia, or any other enemy nation just buy that info? Why is it such a national security risk for them to be able to save a few grand to get data that is already readily available

This ban is a double edged sword, for one it feels like they care about this more than actually improving life, and the other is that banning TikTok is actually a good idea

Ah gotta love their priorities.. let them under educate the youth, let them die from lack of affordable healthcare and access to affordable fresh food. Let their parents work right after they were born not even a week ago so they can afford to provide for the kid; screw up the children’s development and make society worse off and lack freedom due to greed and lack of empathy. No wonder why the youth and folks like myself have very little hope left. I hope before I die, to see free meals at schools, affordable education and overall equality for all humans.
