Are Ear Infections Contagious?

Are ear infections contagious? The short answer is yes. Most ear infections in kids and adults are actually viral, meaning a virus comes in from your nose, it causes swelling of your eustachian tube, and you get an infection between the eardrum and the ear. That infection, if you're not washing your hands or if someone, if you sneeze on someone, can also infect your loved ones.

If it's bacterial, it's less likely because usually it's contained within the ear, but again, if you touch some of the mucus or the drainage that comes out of someone who's infected, you can absolutely get the infection. The easiest way to fix this is using antibiotics, if it's bacterial or just using supportive care if it's viral.

So I've woken up with a sore ear and a dry throat for the last 2 weeks. I've ignored it as it goes away during the daytime. Last weekend It got worst. My throat felt sore, hurts so much when I swallow. The doc said its viral and gave me some ear drop, , nasal spray and I bought some throat spray OTC because this throat soreness is too much. My throat still feels very sore and hurts especially at nights. I don't know what to do now.
