This here is the Base Model Mac Mini & I replaced my $5000 Custom PC in order to see what it is capable of doing! For my use, I think the 256GB model is just not enough however, for a lot of people that casually do web browsing and some work, it will work!

P.S. Casual users, 256GB might just be enough for you honestly. The cool thing is that no matter what, you have the alternative to go get yourself some more storage. (& Avoid voiding your warranty)

Hi! In DaVinci Resolve, it's possible to set up path mapping between Mac and PC. Just last week, I configured it on our work computers, and everything works perfectly. You can do this in the Preferences > Media Storage > Mapped Mounts menu. On the PC, you set the Mac path (e.g., /Volumes/Project_Files, and on the Mac, you specify the PC path (D:\Project_Files).
Greetings from Ukraine! Wishing you success in your creative endeavors!

people in youtube videos saying "mac mini base model isnt really for heavy tasks like editing just simple browsing emails..." brother i edit in a 200 dollar laptop 8gb ram, intel i3, cant even handle a messaging app open plus a yt video playing. My point is yea the mac mini might not be the best to edit on but for the price its amazing even if you arent getting a pro experience

Thanks - this 'real work/play' tests eval was a lot better than the couple dozen or more benchmarking clone videos so many folks are putting up.

Wow, this is impressive! Watching this without relying on benchmarks and firsthand experience with the base model really helps us as consumers decide which configuration to choose. The M4 Mac Mini base model is truly a tiny powerhouse. It’s great to see this kind of stress test instead of just benchmarks. I’m considering the 24GB RAM with 512GB SSD option for a tighter budget. For users with heavy workloads, the M4 Pro might be the better choice.

I would recommend 24 GB ram for any semi-professional user. For example if you are a software developer and you want to run virtualization or heavy docker usage and have allot of multitasking going on with lots of tabs open and applications open at the same time. Otherwise 16 GB will be enough. I went for 512 GB ssd option and not 256 GB as many recommend. Whatever options you choose it will be a good value I believe. This configuration that I choose was about 100 euros cheaper then my previous computer I bought about 5 years ago and had 16 GB ram and 256 ssd storage. So I feel I got more for my money this time around with the Apple Mac mini M4.
The small computer variants with windows are not much cheaper these days unfortunately.

the SSD board can be reworked into 2TB easily. also there will soon be 3rd party 2TB SSD board available to purchase for ~200USD or less.

Thanks, Andres for the this great insight. So, If I get you correctly, I can get a 2TB External Drive, load my apps on it and it will work seamlessly with my 256gb? It will be nice to do a separate video on this. It will really help.

You can just use Docker to run Ubuntu on the Mac Mini. The beauty of docker is that you can have your whole deployment containerised.

hey andres, for your issues with paths, consider writing a script if u would install WSL in windows so it can detect and switch paths accordingly. its doable with bash scripting and its compatible with mac if you installed. its super convenient to rely on this than manual shifting. let us know how it turned out. and your setup and workstation is super cool. kudos to you and Jan

You just brought back some good memories. Fifa Street was so amazing! I used to play it on PS2, all the brazilians in one team was a cheat code. 😁

16:12 running some apps directly to an external disk. 17:02 With Adobe, how much was scratchdisk or swap space? Would it be better have 512GB or 1TB?

This is definitely one of my favorite videos to date, Andres! Would you and Jan be against making setup tutorials by any chance? How to establish a server and whatnot while maintaining your signature cinematic touches too. Thank you!
