Parents shouldn't be disrespectful of their childrens relationships because that for some can cause commitment issues later on.
My mother said the same thing to me when I was young and then i became kind of paranoid or worried maybe what she said was true.

I thought if I was in a relationship then I shouldn't bother trying since it won't last and I stayed single through my teens and through college all the way right into my 20s.

It took my partner that I have now talking to me about things to help me change my views that I could be comfortable enough to be in a relationship with him.
All cos my parents always said things won't last...only positive thing I got from that wasted time is that I don't have any exes or emotional baggage in my life.
Fear of commitment isn't nice.

My depression was my "it's not a phase" declaration. Still going strong and running out of ways to.. well, you know

I still like both girls and boys. I know that’s what a lot of people say but I was messing with girls way before boys. I truly am bisexual through and through and damn proud of it.

My Chemical Romance.
My mom used to put down things I was really interested in unless she also liked it. I have an 8 year old and obv kids that age change what they like or pick things that us as parents think is dumb. I've caught myself about to say something rude or negative and I stop myself cause he isn't into everything IM into. Some people don't agree but I think kids deserve respect in daily life. Obviously were still the parent and in charge but that doesn't mean you don't treat them like a human with likes, dislikes and opinions that we work through TOGETHER.
