In this video, we are going to talk about the cardiac conduction system and its parts (sinoatrial and atrioventricular node, bundle of His, bundle branches, and Purkijne fibres). We're going to review depolarization, repolarization and hyperpolarization from general physiology and look at how the action potential is elicited in conduction system cells and how the membrane potential changes because of different ions. We'll explain why the sinoatrial node is called the pacemaker and what is the treshold. We're also going to talk about norepinephrine, epinephrine, and acetylcholine and how they are related to dromotropism and chronotropism. Last but not least, we'll mention adrenergic and muskarinic receptors and even mention beta blockers and their role in clinical medicine.
