What Are Heart Palpitations?

i experience my heart beating so fast right now, i dont know the cause im not sure if it is because i drink too much coffee but because of this i can't sleep until now. i've been awake for over 24 hours now and my worries grow

I've have them for a long time but the doctor said I'm perfectly fine and its from anxiety/stress. Just wanted to double check since they came back recently. I dont have any pain or discomfort it just freaks me out which causes more stress and anxiety.

I just started getting these out of no where one night; at first it felt like my heart was beating fast and skipping a beat. I tried calming myself down and my heart beat got slower. But the problem is that the next day i was still aware of my heart beating- not like fast but just the casual thumping in your chest, but constant. I’m really worried about this, i’ve never experienced this before so I have no idea how this was triggered all of a sudden. Will it go away eventually?

This has been happening to me for 2 months already and its getting annoying. I'm fine during the day but when its time to sleep my heart pounds and I could hear it which makes me not get sleep. Idk what to do I've gone to the emergency they said I'm fine. I start worrying even more thinking about how this won't ever stop.

Here’s why I’m worried. I’ve been getting her art palpitations but I’m a genuinely relaxed person. I’m not stressed or anxious. I also don’t drink coffee, energy drinks or smoke. It is possible I have an overactive thyroid because I’ve notice I can eat LOADS and literally lose weight but the reason I’m scared is because my dad was born with several heart diseases including a faulty valve which he’s had to have replaced with a metal one when he was little. I’ve only been getting them for the past few days but I’m kind of worried D:
