I have been suffering from OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnea) for many years. As the condition got worse and medication failed, the doctors (multiple) suggested surgery for me.

So I went through Sleep Surgery on 01/03/25. I am feeling extreme pain just to drink water & soup. Also it's bleeding continuously. Please pray for my fast recovery.

What if the Uvula is what causing the obstruction?

I have had a Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty surgery done in 2005 but had two deviated septum surgeries before that. The UP 3 surgery worked for a few years as they took out the Uvula as mine would swell, my adenoid's and tonsil's. My problem was my tongue falling back. The surgery removed the Uvula which had no big side effects. Every great GREAT once in a while a piece of food will go into my nose and I would have to blow it out. That was from eating and breath wrong as it has not happen in MANY years. My weight gain put me back into sleep apnea as I was also a shallow breath. Basically, not breathing deep enough. Losing weight and sleeping on my left side ALONG WITH breathing exercises to practice breathing deeper has been changing EVERYTHING. My worse OSA was when I was 290 lbs as I went down to 270 lbs, it was not much better. It was not til I dropped to 253 lbs, where I am now, that I notice a HUGH change.I have 50 lbs more to lose. I am extremely claustrophobic with my Bi-Pap or ANYTHING over my nose and mouth. Years of OSA has damaged my heart. It was either lose weight or lose EVERYTHING. I struggled for years trying to lose weight until Dr Eric Berg's YouTube explain the effect of SPLENDA. I stopped Splenda and I STOPPED my munchy craving so I could eat more health. THIS WILL NOT WORK FOR EVERYONE but it worked for me. It will not make my heart better but it will stop it from getting worse. I need to be down to 200 lbs before they will think about giving me the Airlift Hydro Suspension surgery. MOST OF ALL, I THANK MY LORD JESUS CHRIST FOR ALL THE TIMES HE WATCHED OVER ME WHILE GOING THROUGH THIS SITUATION OR I WOULD HAVE BEEN DEAD LONG AGO.

I've gone to some doctors and they've told me outright they don't want to do it without even looking at what causes my sleep apnea. Instead, they keep insisting that my CPAP is the only thing I should stay with. I want to know why these docs stay away from surgery where I'm at. I really don't understand why we still haven't been able to solve sleep apnea

Sinus surgery destroyed my life. Sinus surgery can cause Empty Nose Syndrome, which mean you lose the ability to feel air and you feel like you are suffocating. It is living in horrible torture. My life is a nightmare now.

Well, I dont know what to do with myself. I have been diagnosed with Sleep Apnea. Every time, I try to use one of those CPAP machines I end up getting sleep paralysis and it freaks me out. I have tried different masks and none seem to work. I also thought about getting that procedure for sleep therapy but my wife told me no. So I am screwed. 🤷‍♂️

My question is can the uvula be trimmed? That's what my doctor says he recommends doing. He Is board certified.

My doctor removed my Lluvia without even letting me know until I woke up from surgery after UPPP and tongue suspension surgery

Hello doc,

I had Uvula removed due to sleep apnea and it would become swollen at times and I would choke on it. It’s been 3 weeks and although the pain is gone the area where incision was made feels like a tight rubber band is back there when I swallow. Have you ever heard of this? Do you think this feeling would go away?

I'm 32 years old obese and I have large tonsils that have affected my sleep apnea does anyone know if CPAP works if you have large tonsils and or obese because I didn't sleep study I took a bunch of melatonin in the sleep study and I think I woke up feeling refreshed by the machine but I didn't get the machine that they wanted me to get after the sleep study because I used my mom's machine with my prescription I ended up taking the nasal pillow mask but I do have a full face mask

I had tonsils and adenoids removed and my uvula trimmed (not removed). If I could go back I would leave the uvula alone. I feel like I have something in the back of my throat (foreign object sensation like he describes). I’m also a pro voice actor and my voice sounds different and I can’t make a “Snorting” sound like a pig.

Take my advice and don’t touch your Uvula!!!! The good news is that my insurance covered everything. The bad news! I have a persistent dry throat and….I still snore! This was all for nothing!
