It’s insane how you made this video exactly when I was thinking about it. Definitely allowed me to breathe and keep doing what I’m doing thank you 🙏🏼

Very insightful as always, thank you Navie! I was trying to lead rock bands for about 8-10 years before I got into beatmaking, had always been into jazz and hip-hop as well and it's now great to have an outlet for that and have full creative control, it's so valuable to listen to an array of music and develop your knowledge.

PS: your eyelashes still make me blush you gorgeous man

I tried just making beats according to my creative impulses and what Navie went through is exactly what happened to me, the beats were just too "unconventional". I started gaining traction when I studied the beats of songs that I like and tryed mimicing them in my own way. I like beats that Kid Cudi, Travis Scott and Don Toliver raps/sings over, so I have been heavily listening to their music and trying to implement what I learn in my beats.

kanye is who inspired me to make beats. his beats are always hits for me. usually when i make a beat, i pick a beat of his i like, i take one element out of that beat and focus on it and take the essentials of what makes the sound so good, and apply it to my sounds.

What you are saying is 100% correct in terms of genres, after listening to more classical, rock and jazz my beats are way spicier and also i make other genres as well, I tried to make a jazz beat recently which isnt the best, but definitely unique

It’s like you took what I’ve been trying to discover myself and put it into words.

First thing I can think of sampling is the keys / chords from a lot of the symphonic black metal that i grew up loving.

This was an incredible video. I'd say that the information you share here isn't any worse than the info in your beat making course. Best production tutorial channel on YouTube. You are one of my biggest inspirations for making beats!

Started grabbing midi packs recently and it helps with getting interesting chord progressions and basslines that I might not improv myself, and with midi I can make my own synth patches still, so it’s like stealing and then hiding the body 😅😂🤣

As someone who's been uploading beats for over 3 years now, what frustrates me is not only trying to be original but also in a way that I'm passionate about.

I've uploaded several beats on my channel that try to combine west coast and drill but truth be told? I don't really like doing that style, even if west coast drill is extremely uncommon.
