Translated to modern-day, George Washington would not encourage an American citizen to own 1 tank, he'd encourage everyone to own several.

Edit: they didn't. But there was an 8-shot revolving cannon called the puckle gun.
Edit 2: chambers pattern naval gun. Can't be reloaded, but just as deadly as a gatling gun.
