What are all the wires (conductors) in your lighting point doing and how do we wire them up...?

Student training aid for the connections required to wire a lighting circuit using the 3 plate loop-in method. Video explains the connection required within the ceiling rose. The circuit is wired in twin and CPC cables (twin and earth cable).

How to connect up correctly a ceiling rose and pendant wiring diagram.

Understanding the connections in a ceiling - loop, neutral and switching line (switching live).

Brilliant video Gaz.

The number of times I've been called out because a customer has decided to replace a light themselves.

Gaz a little tip for what it’s worth, I always keep the earth conductors long place over the loop terminal and bring them round the inside diameter of rose back plate back to the earth terminal . Looks a lot neater

Brilliant thanks Gary I am an adult learner and just trying to get my head around these different lighting circuits. Doing a level 2 night school course and enjoying it.👍

Great video and a must watch for for Level 1 and 2 learners, especially to be mindful on the over sleeving. Just got an iPad after dropping my last one (hence you have enjoyed the quiet from my comments, ps where's the Merch shirt 😉)

I disconnected - the Old Worn Out Ceiling Rose - But I did not take note of how the wires are connected - its in the bedroom - and also when I disconnected the wires - its the point that joins the circuit - So now not only is the bedroom without Light - So is the Landing and Toilet and Bathroom - Connecting the wires back up to a New Ceiling Rose is Tricky - because I have all these different wires joining the Loop - but not sure the order to wire them - GREEN - RED - BLACK.

I am confused though I am currently - disconnected the Light Circuit - because I pulled the only appliance out - I am trying to follow this video - in how to connect the right wires in order to a connection like this - But I have different colour wires - GREEN - RED - BLACK.

If you’re having more than one light turned on by the same switch, do you just take another 1mm from the ceiling rose to the next light? So at that first fitting you’d have 4 cables, the supply in and out, the switch line down to the switch and then the next switch line to the next light?

so what is the weight capacity of a ceiling rose? when do you have to go from plastic to metal to hold the weight of the light fixture?

Does the Earth Wire - go into the Seperate Screw Connection ?

As always, great video Gaz. May I ask a quick question, is it compliant to spur off a loop in rose that's already providing a spur (usual loop in) or is it compulsory to find the last rose and spur off that? I ask because there's only three terminals for the 'loop' block and 'neutral' blocks. I want to add a light in loft space and easier for me to spur from rose than using JB as quite a few cables up there. Thanks :)

Hi, if you don't mind i have a question...is the adiabatic equation calculated using Zs or Ze? Found some conflicting info on the web. Thanks

only useful if you already know about it and how to do it.
